Direct quote from my post. I clearly admitted the situations were different, but I just find it hilarious the number of savants we have on here that just "know" that Smart will crash and burn, just because.

As it were, that really wasn't the central issue of my post to begin with.

I don't think the argument for most is that he will crash and burn. I think the argument is that Georgia hired an unproven head coach instead of keeping a guy that was really good at recruiting, and who proved he can win. Georgia fans shouldn't be super confident yet, because he is unproven. I do not think he'll crash and burn, but I could definitely see it playing out like it did with muschamp at Florida.

Georgia made the right Decision if they want to play and win national titles.

Now the risk is this guy isn't as good and they fall down the ladder but under CMR they weren't going to be national title contenders.

High risk high reward with the unknowns.

I would have rather they kept CMR around Because he wasn't a threat to us and our rise to playoff contenders IMO

CMR won 10 games the year he was fired and was one play away from actually winning a NC. They would've boat race ND just like Bama did. But, they would've probably still fired him after last year because Smart is just the greatest coach ever.

I back Deconley with his statement

His evaluation towards Bituli was negative, but not personal or derogatory. He also changed his opinion after seeing his play as a senior

Another player,he said was not an SEC player, but MAC caliber. I can't recall the player, but I think that was spot on in the end

Gotta like what he says about the Vols in that article. I haven't followed his recruitment much, so I'm mainly judging this by his statements in the article. UGA is the clear favorite, but the Vols, despite coming in 5th, may be their biggest contender. He said the Dawgs and Vols are recruiting him the hardest. If we do well this year and his relationship with Shoop continues to grow, a lot of ground can be made up.

Winning on the field translates to winning in the living rooms of top HS talent. If we can build off of last year's success or, better yet, run the table, we'll get the attention of the best from all over the country.

Wray doesn't pick UT cause his position coach is babysat by the OC, yet he commits to a head coach who was also babysat by his former boss.

Pretty much and wouldn't you love that your OC is a OL guy? Especially with what this OL just did last year. If they were being honest the future depth chart was What led tonUGA pick

This offense is an OL's dream. I would be salivating at the chance to play here, Mahoney or not. Best OL setup since Fulmer ran things in the early 90's. Clear path to the NFL.

As usual you and AV just don't understand or continue your tired agenda. It's one thing to say "negative" things about ones ability, especially when you work directly with these kids and have contact with the coaches/coaching. Totally different thing to make derogatory and/or personal comments about a young man or his mom etc.

Fwiw I agree with deconley that message boards can cause damage with what posters say. I think that's pretty obvious

My beef with him is he is doing the same thing when he is condemning by posting that coaches should be fired and kids aren't happy unless that same coach is gone. IMO that's even worse because he is connected to kids and his words weigh more than anyone else's here.

Once again... Like it or not, that's not the same as personal attacks. Which is what he was mostly referring too. That's what does the damage. Everybody attacks the coaches from time to time, and thats true for every fan-base. Does that do damage? Does de1's cause damage? Sure... But not like personal attacks and talking about family members. He's never done that, other posters do.

Yeah I don't understand calling people morons for posting things when he has bashed Bituli, gray and others ability on here last year. So wouldn't that be the same thing he is calling others morons about? I'm sure bituli and grays families didn't appreciate those comments either. I don't see the issue of people liking or not liking certain players. It's the whole point of message boards. If you're a player or family member you have to understand not everyone thinks the world of your kid. It lame to let a message board decide your college choice considering they probably choose a Team who has someone hate hem on that teams board too

Personal attacks on family is disgraceful for sure but IMO most recruits would follow that as every where there are classless people


Reading on message board from an "insider" , even more so if you are connected to that person, that players hate playing for a coach and are going to transfer would appear to me to have a far more Negative effect on that recruit in terms of the perception of the program than someone like myself being classless and attacking a recruits family on here
