'17 TN ATH Jacoby Stevens (LSU commit)

I really don't know why folks are freaking out about this kid. He's not a must have like Tee Higgins. If we get Gibbs, he's almost superfluous.

The curiosity is killing me...just what would the D4H wish list look like for this class?? And who do you think is the best Dobbs replacement next year?

Azzani and Mahoney have nothing to do with Stevens having us low on his list, you know.

Yeah..I know as it pertains to Stevens, you are right. I'm really just talking overall. Those two have something to do with Higgins and Wray situations. It feels like Georgia and Clemson are like vultures circling us. I know that we should be primed to have a good to great season, so I don't understand why none of these in state kids are excited and blowing the trumpets. It's just a weird situation to me. Screw Clemson and UGA.

I like Dormady. He looks like a NFL QB. But I think Guarantano is more talented and a better fit. If he can get up to speed, I'd want him to start in 2017.

I haven't watched a lot of film on the 2017 guys So I can't really give you a dream class right now.

Of the few I've watched, I really like Tee Higgins and Justin Foster. They're the must haves in this class IMO. Tee Higgins is AJ Green 2.0 IMO. And Foster looks like he could replace JRM day one. Both look like future stars. DeAngelo Gibbs and Donovan Peoples-Jones are freak athletes. I also like them. But moreso for their freakish potential than what they look like right now. Neither wows me on film.

I've actually made the same argument about him concerning Gibbs. They're both really similar athletes (I think Gibbs is the better of the two) and project at the same position. With out DB/Safety haul in 2016, I think we're fine with just one of the two.

DL and RB are much more vital positions of need in 2017, IMO.

Probably more of people being upset at the thought of losing elite, instate talent. I think it's been shown that JS doesn't 100% fit that mold.. Personally, if we pull Gibbs I'm ok with JS going elsewhere..

Doesn't fit which mold?

Doesn't fit which mold?

I believe it's in reference to the debate about whether he's a true instate talent bc he may or may not have grown up within the border. If not, I have no idea which mold he could be talking about.

Doesn't fit which mold?

Maybe I worded that wrong.. I was referring to someone born and raised instate with at least some allegiance or fondness to what is considered the 'instate' school.. IMO, JS doesn't really fit that description..

I don't mean it in a negative way at all.. It is what it is..

Would love to see him play for UT but, in the end, he needs to do what is best for himself.

With Gibbs and Stevens, one is a FS and the other a SS, IMO. Add in the notion that one or both could grow into OLB. I want both on our team next year.

Good grief its April. We are circling Georgia, Virginia, Pennsylvania...who cares where the talent comes from!

Plenty of talent out there. PLENTY. Remember how many highly ranked players were out there last NSD? Its not going to change that drastically also senior season evaluations do change the landscape.

Yeah I get that, but this was supposed to be an all time greatest kind of class, and at this point it looks like we can't even get any of the top players in freakin Tennessee! How do you suppose we are going to get other states top 5 kind of players? Listen I hope you are right, but it feels like we are getting our teeth kicked in by freaking Dabo and Kirby right now. What in the hell is going on? Dabo got absolutely obliterated by a crappy West Virginia team and didn't get his momentum derailed. Since Butches first year, nobody has whupped us like that. I guess it looks better to recruits to get curb stomped by crappy teams, than to play the best teams in the country to the wire and lose like we did last year...SMH. 😕

Newt...I really hope you are right, but I am not feeling it. If we end up with an awesome class, I will gladly eat my tasty crow. I see another good-really good class happening. With our main rivals loading up, and us losing a ton of talent after this year...we can not afford a "good" class. Everything will just start going downhill again. Butch has got to pull a "great" class this year to keep pace, and not get the train he has worked so hard to build derailed...I hope you are right.

Rivals has a private video that Woody says jacoBy tells us UGA and TN are top two. Playing the game well this one is. He must be a jedi

But that can't be true, the VOLS were 5th on his list. There's no way that 10 months before signing day this recruitment could be fluid. Don't you know that UT has lost Stevens already?

I may very well be wrong...the point is dont get hung up on where a recruit lives, its what you want to be a part of regardless. I lived in 5 states growing up and i chose ultimately to come here! Thats who we want and that is who we will get!

This years recruiting is really disappointing...not seeing it getting any better. I know they are working hard, but Butch may have hung himself by not getting rid of Azzani and Mahoney. I do not understand this at all...sorry for the gloom, but my BVS is making a comeback.

With national signing day coming up in a short ten days, I'm right with you! I don't know what Butch is thinking!!

...

Oh, wait...misread my notes. It's ten MONTHS till national signing day. Feel pretty dumb for getting worked up there for a second now.

Yes, it's early. Nobody seems to be freaking out. Just some concern. The previous classes, especially first two, looked much different this early on.

Well, the previous classes were different classes with different guys than this one. It appears these last two years we have targeted a lot of guys that wanted to wait till later to commit.

We forget sometimes that these guys are more than just numbers.
