'17 TN ATH Jacoby Stevens (LSU commit)

I think the concern is more overall than just this guy.

There will ALWAYS be reasons you lose an instate player that have nothing to do with the program itself. But UT only got two of the top 10 last year. Those who now claim folks like me are "whining" (which the only real whining is their responses to someone talking honestly about a problem) were saying "just wait til next year". Now.... "just wait til next year".

It also doesn't help that one of the top 2 or 3 players in the state is actively recruiting in state players against UT.

This along with us not really having an in state leader doing the opposite.

And they will struggle to win 7 or 8 games in a few years if there's not an upgrade in the next few months.

Because we already know the 18 and 19 classes are going to be horrible. Is that the correct way to think like you and Leb? Look who got their stripe off. Buchanan who is the son of a former NFL player who played many years at that level. He was a three star too and the coaches compare him to Cam when he first came in. We also have a great QB prospect on the way that is probably a top 3 in last year's class. That bad class from last year also has Tyler Byrd who was the top athlete in a service and at the top of others. Also now RS lineman who are coming in like good programs do so they can spend all their time in the weight room instead of having to worry about possibly playing their first year. Sure makes you look wise to be saying how we will struggle a few years from now. Your post was probably one of the most idiotic I have seen in a long time. Probably because I have the big three on ignore but this is about to make it the big four.

3-5 guys don't make up a recruiting class. As a whole, the 2016 class is a decent class. If you follow it up with another decent or worse class, IMO we won't be a favorite to play in the conference title game beyond this year. 2018 or 2019? We'll see. The staff is far enough behind this class that banking on future classes isn't something I'll do. I mean after all, supposedly 2017 was THE recruiting year.

Yes sir. Can't believe you lasted this long. Here is your git shirt. You are only a three star poster. But Dools would take you. Too bad you could not just read and understand the post and what a fool you are. I may not agree with sjt with stuff but he's not just posting like a fool. Please don't enjoy this year just keep focused on how crappy we are.

Sounds like we have way more than 3-5 good players in 2016 class. Your a damn joke.

I said the class was decent. I was giving an opinion on the post mentioning 3 2016 signees as reason the class is better than some feel it was. I wasn't making a joke, but if you got a laugh out of it I'm OK with it. Laughing is good for a person.

three star with a solid offer list, And I didn't even resort to name calling

Sjt makes some valid points.....if you're just counting beans about in-state NUMBERS...but which of the 8 in-state recruits to sign somewhere else would really have put us in much better shape to win the SEC title and get to the final four?

Is Tyler Byrd a better signee than Mitchell, Williams, Vaughn, and Edmonds?

We lost 2 from Tennessee to Ole Sis...a TE and an OT...are we worse off at those positions because of it?

Who was the last "in-state" STUD recruit to choose Ole sis over us--who became a DUD in the SEC? Mathers!

And what about Nigel Warrior--do we NOT recruit him because he's from Ga. just so we can make an attempt to keep some other Tennessee DBs to make everyone else feel better?

So--it's NOT JUST about only signing 2/10 D-1 in-state recruits for the sake of numbers...

CBJ has done well-enough to sign most of the Elite in-state talent so far...and I'll wait and see until February before I start crying about losing some of the current guys to other programs...

The POINT to all of this is for CBJ to WIN THIS YEAR!
Last year was truly a disappointment in losing to OK and Fla for the WAY in which we lost. If UT wins those two games--this conversation NEVER even happens...

CBJ's margin for error this year is very narrow as it CONCERNS RECRUITING...

We need to go at least 11-1, win the East, and possibly the SEC to ESTABLISH UT with CBJ as THE PLACE TO BE in the SEC.

As unimpressive as the first time I saw his highlight mix.

I will never understand how this kid is rated as a 5 star prospect. He's not explosive at all.

Javonta Payton looks so much better than him on ESPNU right now.

Stevens at half-speed is everywhere in this game on defense.

The kid will not see the field as a DB at LSU. He lacks SEC speed on the backend. His best hope to see the field is to bulk up and be a weakside LB like JRM.

No wonder we were recruiting him at that position. Our staff is a lot smarter than these recruiting services.

This kid will not make it as a safety. Too Slow.

He's potentially a linebacker. And he's still good.

Both those things can be true.
