'17' TN ATH Tee Higgins (Clemson commit)

Eventually, Green may be better than all of them. But, I got bored and looked up some stats. Pickens and Green, both have right around 7100+ yards, but Pickens has more TDs(64 counting a punt return) and Green has done it in less time. Different era, tho. Anthony Miller has more TDs and over 9000 receiving yards, plus a rushing TD and 2 KO return TDs, for a total of 66. Once again, Miller played longer. Stanley Morgan had over 10,000 receiving yards and more TDs(72 receiving plus 1 punt return TD, so 73), but he played longer than Green, too. So, AJ should pass both Miller and Morgan in yards and TDs, but he hasn't done it yet. Green has 49 TDs receiving right now with no rushing or return TDs.

So, next time u slight WRU, check your stats and facts. Pickens played for the Bengals, so right now, Green is behind him in receiving TDs, in Bengal history.

Plus, way better than all those guys? That's talking out your a$$. Especially, since u are not old enough to see over half of them play, including all 3, I just gave u stats for. The NFL didn't begin in 2010.

Not to mention, the rules are more WR friendly in AJ Green's era than all of the names you listed. A lot easier to go across the middle if you don't have to worry about being hit so hard that it will rattle your ancestors.

That's true about it being alot easier. I would love to see what kind of numbers a Lynn Swann or Jerry Rice could have put up in this era of don't hit me NFL.

Carter and Irvin were bozos off the field during their career which I believe hurt their immediate cases. Witten should be 1st ballot, but a lot will depend on who is eligible at that time as well.

Which I already stated. Art MONK was just that. Took him forever to get in. And Carter's hijinks were drug related in Philly BEFORE his HOF resume in Minnesota. He was an inspirational story and noted leader for the rest of his career...unlike Lawrence Taylor.

I'm not arguing with you. I agree with a lot of what you have said on the issue.

dude, d4h doesn't care about stats. he doesn't care about stats so much he will follow up his first post rejecting your stats with some stats of his own.

AJ Green should be worried about this. Guys still get legally hit hard and players also make illegal hits every game. The only thing that's changed is some times you get 15 yards for your troubles.

Then you watch a completely different game than everyone else does. I guess the ex-players who actually played the game are wrong too when they discuss how the game is less physical and more offensively friendly today as compared to 10 years ago.

Don't all ex-players of every sport say that? Kinda the "back in my day" mentality? I would say guys are bigger stronger and faster than the past and that collisions are far more violent than they used to be.

That could possibly be one way to look at it. However, if you go back and watch games back in the 90s and early 2000s you would see a lot of hits that not only didn't draw a penalty, but would generate praise. Those same hits today get people fined, suspended, and even pushed out of the league. I seen a player get form tackled last year where the 2 players involved face masks happened to touch and the defensive player was hit with a 15 yard penalty. I never remember a time where a defensive player had to think where to tackle a guy to avoid a penalty. That's the main reason you see more scoring and more offense than you did in past decades.

You used to be able to knock the snot out of ball carriers, even if they weren't prepared for the collision. Now it's called targeting. Big hits don't happen like they used to.

Those guys were much lighter and less muscular than the norm these days. I'd bet the trade off is negligible. You didn't have 240-250 lb QB's and WR's

As long as it's below the neck and you don't lead with your head you can

Idiot officials notwithstanding, that's the rule

Yeah I know what you mean. One of the worst calls that was upheld I've ever seen, except the 4th and short that the refs overturned for Vandy that allowed them to score the game winning TD.

You could mug a WR before the ball was thrown. In that sense it was more physical back in the day. Today guys are bigger, faster, stronger, and willing to take 15 yard penalties....if you don't see that, we may be watching a different game.

We aren't talking about 50 years ago. The game has become more two hand touch over the past 5-8 years or so.

So no, they aren't bigger, faster and stronger. They are still in the league in many cases.

The context was Stanley Morgan, so we're not comparing today's game to 5-8 years ago. We're talking 30 years ago. If you don't think guys today are bigger, faster, and stronger than the 80's, IDK what to tell you.
