That fence around the state crap is to appease the fans.
What a coach should say: I dont care where you live, we will be the best and if you are the best im coming for you...im breaking down fences to recruit the best!...im looking for volunteers to battle for Tennessee!
Disagree. It's very important to get the best players out of your own state imho. As I've heard Doug Mathews and others say, if you can't get your state's best players, it makes recruiting the better out of state players more difficult, because they notice and start asking questions about why those players, who should know the program best, don't want to go there.
I get your point in general, go get the best players no matter where they are. But as Mathews and others have said, it should be easier to get your instate guys, and if they don't commit, the out of state guys take notice.
