Yes I am if you go out and get equal recruits anywhere else. I realize its not popular thought but it is a difference in philosophy. Truly outside the box thinking.
If you do not herald the importance of in state recruiting and instead have a formula for getting the best regardless then it ceases to matter where kids are from. Tennessee did this in the 90s. We were known for going coast to coast for kids, yes it was out of necessity but we had that perception and it worked. We still do that but because of stupid fence comments everybody is worried about the backyard now and when those kids, like most do, want to go somewhere else to experience life everyone gets down on the program as failing. That in turn hurts recruiting as a whole.
Does it hurt to miss Higgins or mid-state talent? Sure but not any more than a 5 star WR from say Georgia, Virginia or North Carolina. As long as we get similar talent I tell Higgins later buddy have fun out there.
Once kids see that, they too will realize it doesn't matter and if a kid wants to stay in state thats great if he is a fit. If not, no worries on either side. Build the team with Volunteers and they will come.
Again, I know I do this song and dance every year. Thank you for enduring it. :good!:
