'17 TN OL/DT Trey Smith (UT commit 12/6/2016)

GAs recruiting successes make me sick. I get they have a talented pool of players but when did they last win something of substance?! My gosh, Butch was telling the truth when he called us a blue collar team a couple of years ago. We have to work 100 times harder than everyone else it seems to achieve anything. While other teams just seem to get what they want when they want, that doesn't happen here anymore. Heart breaking losses, recruiting battles often lost, this stupid lawsuit, the list goes on and on. Other teams win with luck, get whatever players they want, and often cheat to get there with no consequence. Sick. Of. It.

And yet GA has a coach who has never coached a down in his life, as a school they haven't won anything since 1980, they got beat by us last year, and they still just pulled in a 5 star to move them to number 3.

We did beat them last fall but over the last several years they've been much more successful than the Vols. Couple that with the fact that their pool of talent is far superior to Tennessee's make it easier. Add in the normal excitement level of a new coach, I would expect them to have a good recruiting year. Keep in mind that Kirby, the D coordinator at Bama under Saban was a much more recognized name than Butch coming from Cincy.

5 wins, 7 wins, 9 wins and back to back abusing Big10 schools in the bowl games. If a staff can't sell that to recruits as substantial improvement and a reason to buy in, I'm not sure winning 10 or playing in the SEC title game makes a huge difference. Recruiting is in a slide and I get the vibe it's NOT on the field stuff.

That is the positive side. What about 0-3 against your two main rivals, Florida and Bama, and 0-9 against the SEC west. That is Butch's record here. He has to change things or we will be talking about the same things this time next year.

All Sec schools were saying the same thing about Butch in 2013. They were enraged by our 2014 signing class.

Then guess what, we sucked in 2014 and he pulled in another top 5 class in 2015. Now the gleam is gone and we have to earn wins to land top prospects. If we do, we become a consistent recruiting and annual national powerhouse. If we don't, we hang around the middle and occasionally produce a good year.

What's it gonna be? We'll find out.

Few reasons but winning big could and likely will boost it.

The lawsuit?

This is what Dabo did. Told HJ to get the list from Butch that as the leader of the class who the targets would be and then he and Rogers have went after them ever since.

Dirty recruiting. Tells me Dabo doesn't trust his own talent evaluations.
