'17 TN OL/DT Trey Smith (UT commit 12/6/2016)

LOL.

I'm sure everyone would love it. The kid said he's likely waiting till December. Maybe there is a significant day in December he's picked out.

Maybe he's waiting til Christmas Day so he can make a Bleacher Report video of him opening a present and inside.... an orange jersey and hat! Wait a minute... I think I've heard this story before.

Must be something with being a member there

What would yall pick for a breakfast in Neyland? sausage gravy and biscuits, bacon and eggs for me. wash it down with a mimosa.. mmmm.. come ooooooonnn

Pancake, peanut butter and banana breakfast sandwiches.

If I'm at Tennessee, I am not passing up the chance to have the peanut butter...ambrosia, food of the Football Gods, stuff of legends, etc.

I'm just starting to research information about this recruiting cycle, is Trey Smith realistically an instant impact player in the SEC?

Wish there was some way to know for sure. Still think the hiring of his sister is going to be key. As others have said, the negative recruiting has probably slowed down considerably since we settled the suit. I think that was something that Trey had on his mind.

Sounds like you and Trey are pretty tight. You think that lawsuit worried him, huh? You think his sis working here was important to his decision? Smh.

There is a way to know for sure. Wait. Try it.

Can you imagine the hype and positive vibes that would be out there if we start 3-0 with a demolition of VT, then beat the Gators in Neyland to go 4-0 and likely jump into the top 5 for the first time during a season since 2005, then the Sunday after the game Trey Smith commits on campus as the #1 player on ESPN 300???

Damn that would be amazing.

Your post gave me goosebumps.

I believe he will be pushing for significant playing time after a RS year. I don't see him a starter walking in the door, especially on the OL.

The difference in competition is gonna be an adjustment... I think he can be on the level of a Martez Ivey. Does anyone know if Trey is true HS senior age? Martez started 8 games as a frosh, but he was 20. But yeah, I think he could have an impact early, especially as that's one of the biggest uncertainties on our roster.

ALOT if it will depend on guys like Nathan and Marcus who were a bit undersized but good projects. If they add size, can get stronger and having a year in the program, who knows. Its tough to come in on the OL as a FR and make an impact. Richmond is a prime recent example. A RS for an OL guy isn't a bad thing.

Man, all these CB's and we still have to wait till December :(

We won't.

IMO there is either something cooking behind the scenes for an opening of camp/start of season Boom.

If that doesn't come to fruition I don't think he leaves Knoxville after seeing us beat UF in front of the best Neyland atmosphere in 15 years without being a public commit.

Only way it goes to December is if our season has 3 or 4 losses.

I'm with you... I don't think there would be all this commotion without a commitment imminent

They get more points the earlier they put pick in and now that sister news leaked it's kind of obvious who has the edge now. I hope he does something soon but I think it's more likely he do something during season maybe after we stomp Florida lol

Would be cool to see a recruit go with the ultimate coin flip. Say Trey had bama and UT even. He felt it was literally a coin flip and he'd be happy at either. He then goes public a month before the game this year and says whoever wins gets his signature.

Of course I think it looks like we may get him, but it would be cool to see a recruit toss something like that out there.

Seems idiotic to gamble literally your entire future on something you directly cannot control.

Obviously if he preferred one over the other it would not fit the scenario I mentioned and he wouldn't take that risk.

I could see where it does come down to 2 schools for a kid and it is really a coin flip.

Umm no. We apparently suck at coin tosses.
