"It was honestly, awesome," Smith said. "Right when I got there the whole coaching staff came out to greet meet me and then the players took me out that night and I spent a lot of time with Jashon Robertson. I got a chance to see people I saw on my last visit like Todd Kelly, Josh Dobbs and then I got to meet Jalen Reeves-Maybin, Cam Sutton, the elite guys on Tennessee's team. "It was really cool. It was almost like an official visit. That's what it felt like. It was pretty insane."
"Coach Jones , to be honest with you, spent the most time with me out of any head coach that I've dealt with in the recruiting process," Smith explained. "He spent the whole weekend with us. Every time we had a meal he would be there. Coach Mahoney, coach DeBord were there and when I went to Neyland to try on my jersey I'm pretty sure the whole coaching staff was there. It was insane."
"They definitely have, especially after this trip. They let me know I'm one of their top players. They said a commitment from me could not just have an impact on the field, but I could be like architect for the class of 2017," Smith said. "They said I could make an impact early, but I take that with a grain of salt because you never know what happens when you get on campus, but they said I could help build this class and help reinstate the greatness of Tennessee."
Smith knows about the Vols' expectations this fall and with other programs in his top six already playing for national championships in recent years he wants to see how the season turns out for Tennessee. "My thing is, let's see how the season plays out. The polls aren't always consistent and nobody is really a fortune teller," Smith said. "But, Tennessee is returning a lot of talent and they were really close last year. I know Tennessee will always be a top-tier program because even in West Tennessee and all around the country people know it's a great program."
If he was a silent, I wish he would go ahead and come out. Like Butch said, he could be a huge burst of energy into recruiting momentum for this class. Landing one of the consensus top players in the entire country.
But, I don't foresee him making a decision for the next couple of months. I respect him wanting to do it on his schedule. Just makes the wait so much more unbearable haha.
Hopefully a 10+ win season will be distracting you and make it feel much quicker than it is for the wait.
His quotes make me feel good that if we can beat UF with him in attendance in late September he'll jump on board shortly there after.
He just wants to see us get over that same hump everyone else in America is waiting for.
Great news on Smith. This class is almost full now so I think we are going to have to start dropping guys. I would let Tucker go. I know he lives in Atlanta but so do Burnam and Page. I think all 3 are going to need to be dropped to make room for RB and OL. I think Rogers will leave on his own. Smith could be the guy that leads some of the bigger names our way.

Tells us everything we need to know about how other coaches are negatively recruiting against us, and why all the offseason buzz for UT has not translated to an elite class in the early going. This is the #1 reason we aren't off to the recruiting start we thought we'd be.
