Kristy, I'm not the only one on here that's a serious advocate for 247 Sports either. Just keep watching for other posters in the recruiting section & you will see. ESPN isn't bad. Rivals & Scout aren't bad. It's just that 247 Sports is the "most" reliable source of them all.
247 is the way to go. My comment was in regard to just a week or so ago in the FF you trying to convince Butchna that all sites are equally acceptable reference points. I see you're now convinced 247 composite is the best, and now you advocate. No qualms. Just pointing out that you seem like a man on a mission with talking up 247 in multiple threads.
I wouldn't necessarily say that ESPN has the best rankings, but they do a good job with their write ups usually. Scout has also always done a good job with breaking down the targets.
Neither of those sites are my go to for class rankings though. Honestly, the only reason I care about class rank from any site though is for perception. I trust Butch as an evaluator of talent.
Composite is the most accurate, clearly...
No. They have the best ranking. Which really isn't saying much cause they all suck.
Once again I challenge those that think these websites know what they're talking about to look up their ratings of players from 2005-2010. All those guys are out of college and in the pros or out of football.
Go and look up and see how many names you recognize.
Its really sad that we give them the attention we give them given a track record of FAILURE.
I'm sure there are misses. Probably lots of them. Coaches miss on an eval all the time. One thing that IMO can't be discounted by rankings is the teams winning titles sign the top classes. Why is UT in the discussion this year? Because of our top 5ish 2014 & 2015 classes.
Unfortunately D4H I don't think you're going to be able to get everyone to ignore all the site ranking stuff and just trust your film study evals.
LOL. How?
How is adding together 4 faulty measurements going to give you a accurate measurement?
I'm begging y'all to look up PAST RANKINGS. Especially of classes that have already moved on to the NFL. You'll soon realize these guys have no clue what they're doing.
I never said discount the team rankings. Those obviously coincide with success.
Its the player rankings that are rarely accurate. Many times even the top classes end up with a 3 star that turns out to be the best player in the class.
The team rankings work because of QUANTITY. For example, if you sign 25 highly touted athletes, odds are you'll get more good players out of that someone who only signs 5 high touted athletes.
That doesn't mean the best players will all or mostly be the guys who were the most highly touted.
That's why I root for us to sign as many highly touted guys as possible but then I watch the film myself and determine whether the guy can actually play.
That's why I wasn't dancing in the streets when Maleik Gray committed to us. Nice athlete but his film was not very impressive. Its good for our class ranking but I doubt he turns out better than someone like Theo Jackson who was lower ranked but IMO looked more impressive on tape.
I thought about what you are saying also leb but that wouldn't really change it.
If they are right 50% of the time, the number one class would still likely end up with more than the number five class etc.
