'17 TN OL/DT Trey Smith (UT commit 12/6/2016)

Can we somehow talk about how Trey Smith might work into this thread? Maybe he could block for this Hurd guy you all speak of.

This will be the best OL we have had in a decade. The beautiful thing is, it will only improve the next 2 years. We lose Wiesman this season, who very well may be drafted in the middle rounds. Next man up is Jack Jones. Doubt any juniors leave from the line. Trey smith won't even see the field till 2018.

Agree. Hubbs was talking about our OL depth this morning. Said the staff will feel very good about 6 to 7, perhaps even 8 guys this year. What a differences 2 years makes. Jones has done a great job building OL talent and making that position group a strength of the team again.

I like our OL a lot. I like the depth, ad trust the backups. I hope we can stay healthy and put the same lineup throughout the year.

I'm not in the same corner as D4H.
I think these sites serve a purpose. I also however, feel that some fans are starting to take them just a little too literally.

The composite can be torpedoed by one site.
Their reasoning can be because he didn't attend the right camp or because they looked at his film right before lunch and just gave the grade they assumed because of the region etc.
I had been following 247 mostly. But as they continue to demonstrate that their paid camps are their source and the more camps attended, the better your chances, that shows an obvious bias and opening for flaw.

Watched a video synopsis on Mac Jones today on Rivals and whoever was the narrator was talking about how he's risen after showing out at RIVALS camps. Had Jones not attended their camps and committed to Bama would he be ranked as high as he is? After Bama and aTm his offer list falls to the likes of UK, Illinois, ECU, FAU.

Dont kill me i kind hope we lose bama during year beat them in sec championship. Im not sure theres team in country that can beat saban twice in one season unlesss they dont make it there then win away baby

I just read somewhere that Butch hired Trey's sister. Thats awesome, and another reason why I'm not worried about this class.

I think Malone is going to bust out in a good way this year, he is on the verge I believe. He has 2 more years, way too early to get down on him. He showed flashes late last year of becoming a every down player. GO VOLS!!!

Rivals Woody said he thinks Smith is a done deal to Tn by hiring his sister. Said talk at the opening was ND and in 2nd was ole miss, he thinks it seals it for Tn. Since it's nice of him to pay attention to Smith, perhaps he can fix his rating on Rivals now.

I believe he is very likely a RS. As a RSFR he will be right there fighting to start after a year in the system.

I would guess he's in the conversation to start RT. Chance Hall will be a senior after Smith's RS and if he has two stellar seasons, maybe he goes early? You wouldn't think he'd sign just to back up Richmonnd for two or three years. Seems like the quickest route to playing time to me. JMO TIFWIW.

ND as Norte Dame?

This kid will be in the conversation to start as soon as he arrives on campus if he signs in which I think he will. He's good enough to start as a true freshman after the 2017 season.

Like SoMissVol stated we will have a few leaving so Smith will have a great chance to make a possible starting position on the OL. They have him down as DL too so who knows he could end up playing defense but I think the more likely scenario is offense.

Remember his sister is a UT graduate...has a background working in college athletics through UT and after graduation from UT....great hire by Butch
