But what many have to realize is Gray is not elite like that. I know ppl hate to hear that but he didn't lead his team in anything. Elite guys are Gibbs, Stevens, and in previous yrs Kyle Phillips, McKenzie, DKJ, Warrior, Hurd, Malone, etc

I wonder if this is not already an issue for Butch. Opposing recruiters are probably telling kids that Butch cuts players so why would you commit there?

I'm sure it's being mentioned in the recruiting process as other coaches are trying to use it against us. If UT is their best option though, they may take the chance anyway. I do think it's affected us in some ways though as even with 23 commitments it seems like very few are actively recruiting hard for us. Its awfully quiet compared to previous years. It does make sense though. If you're not sure you will actually get a LOI to sign, why would you spend time helping them recruit? In some cases what if you help secure the kid who literally takes your spot? Would be brutal.

Thanks for your interpretation. My point is that de1 says he doesn't degrade, downgrade, disparage, tech these kids and he clearly does. Why the need to say anything negative, as if he knows more than the coaching staff? I think Gray proves him wrong

Obviously one of my favorite commits in the class. Loved his showing the athleticism at the opening. Always a take in my book, good, great, or elite.

McKenzie and Hurd led their teams in cheering from the bench their senior year...what was the team leading stat that made them elite? I suggest it was their obvious elite athleticism? Gray appeared to demonstrate elite athleticism this summer during camping season.

Butch doesn't normally cut/release a bunch of commits to go elsewhere. People are crying & hollering for 10+ commits to be allowed to go somewhere else to play because we have so many 3* recruits.

We still have a decent class ranking right now but it's only because of quantity instead of quality. However, Butch can't let this many player leave. He can let up to about 5 players go & there won't be any backlash about it.

All schools do this but some do it more than others. We get a couple of 5* or one 5* & one 4* recruit left out of the 2017 signing class & we're going to be a top 10 class even with what we already have right now.

We let 3-5 players go & sign some more 4-5* recruits & we could end up top 5. It's going to be hard to get top 5 though but top 10 is very doable.

Every BCS/Playoff championship winning coach from the last 10 years has offered Gray.
Jim Harbaugh has offered him. He is the composite #5 Safety in the rankings. He is a UA All-American. The offer list says he is pretty damn good.

You can't go by what those hacks say or do man. If DeJuan says he's good but not elite, then the kid might as well be just another 3*.

What do any of those guys know about football, much less recruiting?

After reading that article about De1, I don't give a flip about his evals. He obviously has very poor judgement so I think I'll get my info on recruits from Catbone and Tony"ThreadMaster"Bologna.
