Anyone OL we sign in this class (save for Smith if he is as good as advertised ) has a very good chance of redshirting. Two out three in the current freshman class will likely redshirt, and all three of them are performing very well in practice. We just have very good depth barring injury.

Of the top 12 players in Tn we have 1. That looks bad. It is bad.

We just lost Billy Ross and TJ Moore. Now it looks like we are going to lose Eze to Memphis. When have we ever lost a recruit to Memphis?

What I've read seems to feel we will know in the next month if McKenzie is a take. If he is healthy coming out of his 2nd or 3rd game the offers will start coming in. Hopefully UT doesn't wait too long and if we offer he jumps on it.

Looks like that is the case:

"Tennessee especially has said they just want to see film, any film. Game film, scrimmages, film period. They just want to see me in pads. The thing about California is that you can't be in pads until late before the season," said McKenzie.
UCLA and Arizona State both offered McKenzie in the spring and he said those two are recruiting him the hardest.
"UCLA of all the schools I've been offered by, is recruiting me the hardest," said McKenzie, who's mom went to UCLA. "Coach (Adrian) Klemm is the one recruiting me. I think I'm going to take an official visit there."

Announcement coming in about 5 days with 100 percent prediction to Memphis.

Butch has to find a way to start keeping these guys in-state. We have so much more to offer than Memphis.

We are really missing out on the OL I thought we were going to get. Eze to Memphis, Ross to UNC, and Moore to USCe.

He should probably take his OV to some schools. Then he will see firsthand the difference between whatever conference Memphis is playing in these days, and big boy football.

Tennessee will be winning big, and the Fuente has left the building so Memphis will be down, compared to last year. He may reevaluate things.

Then again, the big stage may simply intimidate him too much, and if so, do what you wanna do

We seem to be making an awful big fuss about a guy who has never played a snap of varsity football. He has a huge upside but he is at least 3 years away from being a starter on a good SEC team.

I think he doesn't want the pressure of big boy football. That's cool, not everybody is driven to compete at the highest level. Not everybody is cut out for it. Have fun getting your brains mashed in.by the big boys on the regular though at that piece of crap school.

That is a good point. Yet he has offers from Alabama, Florida, Auburn, Michigan, UGA , etc. They must really see a lot of potential like you say. Would be a perfect fit for us, we have enough depth to give him time to develop.

has nothing to do with not wanting someone or not recruiting. Kid is just different. sounds like Memphis being first on him meant a lot to him. I'm sure it doesn't help to be told Mahoney sucks often despite having an OC that is an OL specialist

Does sound like he has a lot of loyalty from what I have heard. DeBord should definitely be a plus for OL recruiting.

At some point Butch has to start winning these battles for elite players. Right now we just seem to be getting a lot of excuses and very little results.
