'17 TN RB/CB Chase Hayden (Arkansas commit)

It really stinks when you can't find a spot for a legacy kid with this kind of talent and speed.

I agree to a certain extent, but also think the staff shouldn't pigeonhole themselves into giving a kid a spot just because he's a legacy.

Time will tell if this is a Creamer/Bares situation or a JJ Mclesky situation.

Good thing it didn't hurt JJ's relationship with the staff because he trains Labruzza. It's called a professional.

He's a bit small for an every down back, but he has SEC talent.

Oops I meant Jalen.

Edit: my post was in regards to whether we should or shouldn't offer a kid a scholarship. Hindsight being 20/20, Jalen definitely deserved one while some other legacies who had the measruables didn't

Early on Butch could take every legacy kid regardless of position cause he needed a lot of everything. Now he's got to be more selective. Probably made a mistake on JJs kid cause Tenn doesn't have a difference maker at slot. Can't afford to take an average slot guy regardless if he's a 4* RB by recruiting services. I'd like them to take AHs kid but only if it's what they need. At end of the day, CBJ needs to win.

I personally don't blame them. I never was a huge fan of his game. Legacy and high ranking only reason I think people want him so much

If you want to win you need to sign "high ranking" classes. Of course that means signing those individual recruits with those "high rankings".

Chase should have always been a take at RB. Him sitting as one of the 3 backs in the class would have a subpar class looking much better. Kid can play.

I really hate that we couldn't pull Chase in...for whatever reason. Probably because I really loved watching his Dad play more than anything though.

So because he has a higher star rating than another recruit he's a take? I would take our RB coaches opinion over any recruiting service.
If that's the way it works we would of had the RB out of LA instead of John Kelly because he was rated higher and it makes our star average better.

Would I take a TN kid who happens to be a RB(position of need) who is a 4* and a legacy over some random 2-3* kid we can hopefully snag late stealing him from Western Kentucky? Yup.

If the coaches don't think he fits their system I don't care what he's ranked or if he's a legacy. You don't bring in a kid that you don't think will make your team better.

Our coaches tend to make poor decisions. I'm chalking this up as another. TIFWIW

Imo it's because the staff was upfront with evaluation of him being a WR and his dad probably appreciated that. They could have sold them a bill of goods about letting him play RB but they didn't. So no hard feelings.
