'17 TN RB/CB Chase Hayden (Arkansas commit)

I could see him feeling a gap. He could be in the competition for carries next year and then 2021 he would be a senior, gray would be a junior, 2 sophomore runnings backs in Hodge and hopefully Whitehead, and then you still have a spot to sell to a top tier running back to be the future in the 2021 class.
We are likely better off not knowing about feeling any gaps. If that becomes public, it's usually not good.

I agree and believe our OL improvement being late to the party, is a reason why.
We seem surprised but I think elites had ruled us out by the time we started giving a real glimpse of what we could be.
Get a fresh start with next year's batch tho.

A lot of the top RBs committed early this year. We pushed for Tank, Lloyd, Holmes and some others, but they wanted to go elsewhere. Our OL and a disastrous start to the season just killed us with some recruits. At the beginning of the year, it seemed likely that Ty would have a big year and leave early and, at one point, Jordan was thinking about leaving, too. That would have forced the numbers. Whitehead's probably our best option and the coaches like White, if they can get him on campus. We're looking at a few flip prospects, too. But taking a grad transfer with two years of eligibility left would put us in a better spot while we continue to upgrade, and I think that's a good thing.

I would throw names like Michel, Chubb, Fournette as well. Those are the type of RBs we need imo.
granted I am partial but I'll take some more RB's like James “Little Man” Stewart, Charlie Garner, Chuck Webb, Jamal Lewis, Arian Foster, Jay Graham, Curt Watson and yeah, even Johnny Majors....but that's just me !

He's not holding a spot for 4 or 5 years.
Just 2. He could make one critical play against a Florida in a victory and the decision to take him would be worth it.

Like some guys have eluded to, his father is helping bigtime with recruiting relations in Memphis. And he's a legacy.
So 2 years with an average at best running back? Why?

We already have some average running backs why add yet another? Imho, we need difference makers at running back, studs that opposing teams need to gameplay for every week whether than guys we hope can maybe make a play 1 time vs Florida. We need players that can be bellcow, all-sec type running backs....Cobb, Webb, Lewis, Henry, Stephens. Jmo. If you wanna put him on the roster and let him play special teams and play some running back in mop up roles, is that worth the scholarship? Guess we’ll potentially see what Pruitt thinks.

Left out the all-time leading rusher in Big Orange history, and my all-time favorite...The Cheese.

Not to mention, a host of others; two being Reggie Cobb and Travis Stephens.

I would happily take any RB that even halfway resembles the guys you just listed.
