'17 TN RB/CB Chase Hayden (Arkansas commit)

Could see chase being a true all purpose back and also split out in the slot quite a bit. Extremely athletic and versatile offensively. Could be a good CB too

Now ranked a 4* prospect by Rivals.com.
The versatile athlete not only led his team to a state championship, but he stepped right onto the basketball court and looks like he may do the same thing on the hardwood. Hayden can play running back, wide receiver or potentially even defensive back. As he continues to do well at marquee events, Hayden could see his ranking go even higher. He is considering Tennessee, Michigan, Vanderbilt and others.

Kid has great bloodlines. His dad, imo, was a little underappreciated while here....not super, but as steady a back as we've had.... 5.2 yds a carry over 4 yrs...

“It’s the same as every time,” Hayden said. “I enjoyed looking at the facilities, getting to talk to coach G and hanging out with him and then talking to coach Jones a little bit, too. It was a good trip.

“That was my first time talking to Alvin (Kamara) about Tennessee and I got to talk to (Todd Kelly Jr.) for a good minute because we played against each other in high school. He talked to me about the life up here and playing football and what he’s majoring in and stuff like that. That was cool.”

Hayden, winner of Mr. Football and Mr. Basketball in Div. II, Class A this year, said hearing from Kelly’s perspective was helpful.

“Especially talking to TK, he told me that when he was going through the process he thought he wanted to get away and not follow in his father’s footsteps,” Hayden said. “But, he told me that you can create your own legacy there, too. His father played there but he’s creating his own legacy.

“That was important to hear since he’s going through and he’s a legacy and so it was special to hear about it from him.”

The 5-foot-11, 185-pound West Tennessee standout from St. George’s in Germantown now has 12 offers, including recent ones from South Carolina, Arizona and Missouri.

“I remember when I just had three offers after the football season and then for me to be up to 12, it’s just really amazing,” Hayden said.

Even with his Tennessee connections, Hayden is taking his time and plans to visit more schools moving forward.

"I’m just taking my time right now. I want to make a decision by the beginning of my season so I can get it over with and I don’t have to focus on that so much during the season.”

Recently visited UT 2 times in 3 days per 247. I don't have a subscription so I can't see any more details than that.

Chase would be a great "get" for us, not just because of his legacy status; but because he is such a versatile athlete.
Looking at his film footage, he is beastly good at three positions: slot, rb, and db. Anyone who excels at this level? We need.
Nobody knows when he'll commit, because he's (smartly) playing that close to the vest. But if Team 120 goes out and wins anything from 12 to 15 games this fall, it'll be okay with Chase and a lot of other recruits we want. They will come.
P.S. ......He say's he's not deaf to his Dad's advice.

Wish the kid would just go ahead and commit to us. He is in my opinion all vol, and all these other schools offering is just a formality. You can hear how much he loves Tennessee with the way he glows when he talks about playing for Tennessee possibly. Kid is all vol and he'll be a dynamic athlete for us.
