That's obviously the big question that will go a long way toward defining Tennessee's 2017 class. The Vols need to get at least one really good running back who's ready to come in and take on a significant role right away next year. That said, Cam Akers and Ty Chandler are still the two guys at the top of their wish list, and while Tennessee is in decent shape with both of those guys and with Akers in particular I don't think either is anywhere close to a sure thing for the Vols. That's pretty typical when you're talking about top-100 players who are being pursued by a lot of good programs.
To answer your question, if I had to guess one running back who's most likely to be a part of Tennessee's class, I probably would go with Chase Hayden. He's a UT legacy who has been high on the Vols throughout his recruitment, their involvement with him has heated up a bit over the past couple of months, and I think they're clearly still one of the teams to beat for him. He's hoping to make a decision sometime this summer, and while Tennessee has some legitimate competition for him, it still might be tough for anyone to overtake the Vols in the end.
