'17 TN RB Cordarrian Richardson (Clemson commit)

Larry has been around recruiting a lot longer than even I have. I remember back in the golden era, long before the General's Quarters he and Kevin Simon's dad used to bring some great info. He keeps spreadsheets of recruiting data from years past.

What's your point? Still doesn't mean he has any clue as to what is going on now. A lot of his .... 'predictions'.....of late are about the equivalent of the crystal ball stuff on 247, glorified guessing. And Larry, much like yourself, seems to downplay anything with the current staff. Gets old when true fans are genuinely excited to click one of these threads to see Debbie Downers who get way to much credit sucking the excitement out of the room.

Wasn't his name Cy?

I remember those days. I was on VQ when I was in college before Brent even joined Rivals' network.

I assume we are talking about Richardson still. I can't recall exactly what interview I read but he definitely said he grew up as a Vols fan. May not come here but definitely a possibility if he grew up a Vol fan!

People think LWS is a pessimist because he predicted we will suck for nearly a decade... well he was right. Right or wrong people around here just want rainbows shooting out everyones asses.

I think the ultimate point is that unless you are the recruit or you are talking to the recruit, what is put on a message board is a guess.

The crystal Ball predictions are no different. They are a guess based on that persons theory on the momentum of a recruit towards a particular school.

It's great when you get multiple predictions for Tennessee because that means that more than 1 analyst is seeing the same things.

I think people sometimes mistake his caution and/or conservative nature for being pessimistic. When I read his "inside" info, it usually reads like someone who chooses to hedge his bets carefully and doesn't want to excite people about good things that the team/staff might end up being incapable of following through with.

Basically, I think he's just really careful with what he says/predicts because he knows the masses will turn on him in a second if something good he says never comes to fruition.

He has said multiple times he no longer follows recruiting like he used to because of how it is these days. He is much more about team info etc than recruiting

"Earth calling Ron Swanson... come in, Swanson." Got any skinny on our recruiting efforts with Cordarrian? :whistling:

Underclassman Eval

STRENGTHS: Powerful runner with a thick, muscular build and a good initial burst. Runs with great vision and patience. Fights through tackle and racks up yards after contact. Possesses good ball skills and is a very capable blocker in pass pro.

AREAS OF IMPROVEMENT: Is not a burner and may not be effective on the perimeter at the next level. Does not have the wiggle to make people miss in open space.

BOTTOM LINE: Richardson is a big, strong running back and the prototypical power runner. We feel that he has all the tool to develop into a bell cow at the next level.

So this kid lacks the wiggle to make people miss in open space, while Higgins, according to ESPN Scouting Report lacks the wiggle to make people miss in tight space. Are there different kinds of wiggle? I are confuse.

Yes, as crazy as it sounds, there are different types of "wiggle" as it relates to the 2 positions. Wr's have to operate in a phone booth and get away from defenders.

I hope we get this kid. Seems like a Travis Henry-type runner.....thick and low to the ground with good burst through the line, but not a track star burner. I think getting him and Chandler would be a great 1-2 punch in this year's class

Shows what I know. :hat tip:

Lot of ground to make up because UT apparently went a spell ( time ) with virtually no contact and that has had a negative effect on him.

Yes apparently according to 247 we went like 2 months with no contact. We "slipped a bit" we're his words. He also said he was going to make a decision in a few months I think.

But then Callahan had this to say:

"Like I said earlier, I think there might have been some questions about him at one point. He's a big kid - perhaps even bigger than the 220 he claims to be. But it seems like Tennessee again is becoming a major factor with him."

This might have been caused by a concern on academics. I had a couple of Memphis coaches tell me at the beginning of the fall that there was no way the kid would be eligible.
