'17 TX ATH KD Nixon (Former UT commit)

Anyone remember how tall nukeese Richardson was? I remember him being pretty small

I think he had trouble seeing over the counter at Pilot and couldn't order anything.
That's why he had to threaten that guy with his pellet gun to get a sandwich!

I tell myself if our staff took the word commitment more serious it would trickle down to the recruits valuing the word and respecting the idea of being committed more.

Take Clemson for instance. Its public knowledge that Dabo views a commitment as you're done. I haven't read much about him yanking offers unless you take visits after committing. People say it won't work here at UT. Dabo seems to be making it work.

I would bet money that Clemson has had its share of decommitments. Its not a trickle down thing, its a cuts both ways thing and is not exclusive to UT or Michigan or any school. Is the landscape now coast to coast pal. Even Hawaii.

Per P Fort

Not s huge surprise after talking to him in Atlanta.

And, at 5-6, I'll be honest, I just have questions how effective he would be long term. I think he was pretty close to his ceiling. Still a good player, but just not a guy I think can be a lot better.

Just read the article on SB Nation at team speed kills. Scout says we still have a top 10 class.

Kind of, yeah. At least for now. I'd never question a recruit bailing with how it's ran now. You're spot is in jeopardy from the second you commit till NSD. Would I like to see that change? Of course. Its not on the recruits to change that. Its on Butch. IMO if the staff did away with dropping recruits just because another guy wants in, then recruits would actually value the idea of commitment. Fact is our staff can't preach commitment because they don't honor them themselves.

Want it to change? It starts with Butch. If you don't, recruits will bail out. Can you blame them? They have no security at all.

We get it. You don't like how recruiting is managed under the current coaching staff. We all know your stance on it, and it's obvious the coaches aren't going to change. There's no need to repeat your opinion in every single thread. Give it a rest.

People keep saying "Butch needs to honor commitments so that other kids learn to honor theirs." That's just ridiculous. These are 16-17 year old kids. If Butch decided to not recruit-over what he already has, no high school teenager is going to have the mindset of "man I really need to stick with this school."

But, social media, is also a huge reason why recruiting has become such a farce. Every day kids are releasing "Top 20's" then a Top "15" and so on and so on. Heck I remember Torrance Gibson tweeting out he had "absolutely huge recruiting news" one day, and it got everyone all worked up and I'm pretty sure I just remember it was him accepting a bid to one of the All-American games.

People just have to face it. Recruiting is what it is. Kids want their moment in the sun, and a vast majority of these people are going to commit, decommit, recommit several times over until they have had their fill with the process.
