'17 TX ATH KD Nixon (Former UT commit)

If commits aren't loyal on their commit don't commit you said

If staff aren't loyal on their commits don't accept their commit I said.

Get it yet?

It's a business and you make room for players that you feel deserve a spot on the team regardless of their ranking. It's like that at every school so you take a chance when a kid commits to ANY school. I doubt the coaching staff gives a damn on what any of us thinks about their recruiting strategy.

KD nixon dont care what we think

So you have set yourself up with the position of -
If the coach doesn't keep a soft commit, it's a dishonorable coach.

If a recruit doesn't keep a soft commit, it's a still a dishonorable coach?
You're entertaining.

Kind of, yeah. At least for now. I'd never question a recruit bailing with how it's ran now. You're spot is in jeopardy from the second you commit till NSD. Would I like to see that change? Of course. Its not on the recruits to change that. Its on Butch. IMO if the staff did away with dropping recruits just because another guy wants in, then recruits would actually value the idea of commitment. Fact is our staff can't preach commitment because they don't honor them themselves.

Want it to change? It starts with Butch. If you don't, recruits will bail out. Can you blame them? They have no security at all.

So every decommitment since Butch and staff have been here is on them? No fault towards the players? Damn you're a straight up moran.

Or we stop, and they still jump if the school they want comes calling?

I'm sure you believe that all these kids were never inclined to do such a thing before Butch Jones became the coach at UT.
I never even know if I should take you seriously or not.

Not all of them. Kid has confirmed grade isses(Not fans making an excuse to drop them), or they get into some kind of trouble, cut em loose. Other than that, a commitment is a commitment to me.

TBH this is good for us. You can't be 5'6 and compete week in and out. Have fun in a little league conference

"I think the reality is, with Tee Higgins, Jeremiah Holloman and even guys like JaVonta Payton still out there, Tennessee probably was going to lose a receiver commitment at some point if the Vols land some of the WRs they want. And, if you had asked me who was most likely to end up elsewhere among Tennessee's wide-receiver commitments, Nixon would have been my guess."

But what if one of those commitments decommits from Tennessee? Will this class fail miserably and it'll be the staff's fault just like you said???

As I said, I don't hold it against any recruit committed to UT bailing with the way it's done now. A kid can be solid, not take visits, have the grades, and still be dropped for nothing more than they need the spot. I can't blame the recruits. If Butch was more sold on the whole idea of commitment, maybe things would change. I don't expect he will.

Every team these kids have played on from high school JV on will cut a player that doesn't play well enough. That will continue through college and on to the pros if they are fortunate enough to get there. Why you would think that same thing doesn't apply to college recruiting is kind of hard for me to grasp. Have you done anyone a favor by signing a kid only to cut him shortly after? No.

If he can't play, I don't take his commitment. If I'm unsure and need to see more, I don't take his commitment in May or June. I wait till Dec or Jan. Simple.

Butch can't babysit these kids and make sure that they don't go anywhere. We're talking about 16-18 year olds whose mind is completely different from ours. One day they can be committed to a school then the next day they could decide to decommit and go somewhere else. Butch can take a kid's commitment if he wants too but the whole idea of a commitment is to honor it. If Butch decides to drop a commitment to make room for someone better, he has the right too cause that's part of recruiting in college. In high school, it was all about them. Now, it's all about what the coaching staff at each school thinks.

And of course you'll be one of the people on here applauding Butch for his courage taking the slim pickings left in Jan after all of the 3* projects we were waiting to see blow up have already committed elsewhere? Right?

Perhaps you should consider being a Clemson fan.

I like underdogs and seeing lower rated kids get that chance. This class is shaping up nicely.

no disrespect meant but this isnt the little giants, you dont win championships with underdogs and low rated kids. its a harsh reality of the SEC. Bama gets who they want and have a dynasty. 3 stars and unknowns rising to superstardom is fun but its the exception not the rule.

Nah. Clemson has too many 4-5* for my liking.

Wait. So all our 3* aren't going to be bumped to 4*? Here I was told we had the best evaluation team around. Thats it. Fire the Bob's.

Maybe, but Dabo's moral superiority should suit your self righteous streak nicely.

I suppose recruits may be buying into the notion that commitment actually means commitment there. That said, I'm a Vol. Butch could drop 10 from the class tomorrow and while I'll voice my opinion on it. I'll still be a Vol.

If he can't play, Doesnt matter...I'm not a coach. If I'm unsure and need to see more, Who gives a crap? I'm not a coach January through Dec 31, I set rules for coaches and they pretend it doesn't matter...just a message board dude. Anybody else paying homeless people to spend Christmas with them? Simple.

This happens everywhere and is just part of the business. You spinning this as though Butch is somehow more offensive than other coaches that do the same thing means you either aren't aware of the widespread nature of the practice or you just have it out for Butch.
