'17 TX ATH KD Nixon (Former UT commit)

Also:

In the back of his mind, Tennessee wide receiver commitment KD Nixon knew the Five-Star Challenge presented by Under Armour was this weekend at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.

But, as a backup option, he knew getting the last minute call was unlikely.

That all changed Friday morning when Nixon’s phone rang letting him know someone had to miss and there was a wide receiver spot open and he was the recipient of the invite.

“I was about to go work out,” Nixon said. “When Nick (Krueger) texted me I was about to go to the school to go to work out. He texted me at 9:30.

“I had been asking for this and God blessed me with it. Now, I just have to showcase my skills and enjoy the moment.”

But, setting up last-minute travel wasn’t the only obstacle Nixon had to maneuver. Scheduled to fly out of Dallas Love Field Airport, a shooting in the morning delayed his flight some six hours.

And despite missing parts of the first day, Nixon is excited to be competing.

“It was hectic. It took me six hours to get on the flight,” Nixon said. “But, I finally got here and I got here late and I missed all the fun with everybody else. But, it’s all business at the end of the day so I’m good with that.”

While he was waiting to board his flight Friday in Dallas, he did receive a call from Tennessee coaches Butch Jones and Zach Azzanni. The call meant a lot to the 5-foot-8, 175-pound receiver.

“I have a great relationship with coach Jones and coach Azzanni. They called me before I came here. They were excited for me and let me know that,” Nixon said. “It’s great that they would call me and care that much about me and call me and congratulate me when they were busy and had camp.”

My favorite commit of our class so far. He's a perfect fit for our offense, and can change the course of a game with one touch.

It will be when we have a QB who can/will get the ball to WRs down field. That will happen next year and our offense will be setting the SEC on fire.

"Desoto, Texas, four-star wide receiver K.D. Nixon was a late addition to the Five-Star Challenge roster and took a little time to get acclimated to the big stage. By day’s end, however, the Tennessee commit came up big for the victorious Team Armour, scoring four total touchdowns on the day. At just 5-foot-8 and 181 pounds, Nixon is not the biggest wide receiver, but he is particularly adept at getting separation in the short and intermediate passing game, where he was a favorite check-down option of his quarterbacks."

Yeah, I'm "that guy"

EDIT: Ok... Well I thought everyone was being cute, and I was going to break the underline streak, but there is some sort of sorcery at work here

At first I thought everyone was just being cute, but then I realized this is VolNation ... you couldn't get 10 people in a row to embed a link correctly if your life depended on it!

They act like he was chopped liver.

Having Pig at full go all through spring, summer, camp, and the season might have been enough to put us over the hump in one or two of our losses. He was Dobbs' go to guy when things broke down in 2014. Never would've beaten USC without him.
