'17 TX ATH KD Nixon (Former UT commit)

I know I'll get ripped on for stating this but I don't view KD Nixon as a signature we should vie for. I know, I know....I'm not a coach so what does my opinion matter. It doesn't, admittedly. I'm just a fan who has kept up with recruiting since my youth. I don't recall UT having signed a 5'6 WR before and I definitely don't recall a 5'6 receiver having made an impact on the field for us. He played great at the 5-Star Challenge but a lot of his action was on check downs, which is next to impossible to cover in 7-on-7 action with no line in front of the QB and no rush. I don't imagine a 5'6 receiver built more like a RB would offer the same kind of potential as an outlet receiver in the SEC. If we sign him, I hope I'm wrong. Certainly have been wrong on players before. But if we can ink Higgins, Holloman, and Fant, I hope we can ink a higher upside/ceiling WR at the slot. JMO. Flame away.

Not flaming, but in the Butch offense it is very helpful to have a guy that can be the drag/cross option underneath - but they have to be able to run like a RB after the catch, because you can create some good mismatches.

I wonder if he is really 5'6. The way sites report height exaggerations he may only be 5'4 :)

Not gonna flame you, it's your opinion and it is an understandable way for someone to see it.

Gotta say though. The bolded makes no sense to put into a post if no one knows how old you are. Since my youth means nothing if you're 20. When I say since my youth, I'm talking about the late 60's early 70's. Just saying, if you're going to use the line, at least give us a reference point.

Just messing with you. I see everybody else arguing on here the last couple of days and thought I'd give it a try.

:)

I actually agree with you. @ 5'6 he has very little chance being successful in the SEC. For those making Pig references he's bigger than this kid easily.

Looks like he caught a nice deep ball in the 5 star challenge video. Also a nice snag on that quick out route and got A foot in Bounds.

If this guy were only 18" tall and could run a sub 4.4 imagine how hard he'd be to tackle.

It'd probably be hard for him to grip a football though.

I remember another similar type player that broke records against UT. Played for ole miss and he gashed us all night. I have zero problem having another playmaker on the roster.

Anyone hear any rumblings of his commit is "soft"

Apparently non-UT insiders think his commitment is soft, but that is all we have to go off of. It was referenced in a few vague tweets today.

I don't think anyone seriously has any real info. But I would take losing KD Nixon if that meant we could for sure get Higgins and Holloman.
