I hope this doesn't mean we're missing out on Ray and Conliffe.

And I wonder where this staff sees this kid projecting. Looks to have a similar build as Butler. It seems like the staff wants some big DEs they can move inside.

So far, they've had mixed results trying to do that. I'd rather just add a kid who clearly projects at DT like Conliffe.

As long as we get Conliffe or Ray as well, I like this addition. This kid has upside, no doubt.

If we miss out on both of those guys, adding thaxton comes off as a little desperate IMO.

According to offer lists not at all. However, Tre still has academic work to do - but should be OK. Is Thaxton our football version of Grant Williams?

“When Tennessee offers you, you want to go visit because there’s a good story behind it,” he said. “They’ve been after me since my junior year — like, the end of my junior year. Even when I committed to UVa, they were still on me. I was like, ‘I’m going to give it a chance,’ and I’m glad I did.

“They’re historically a great team. They’re in a bowls a lot. They win a lot of games. So when they offered me, I was kind of like, ‘I’m going to go check them out.’”

“I mean, all the starters at DE, they’re leaving,” Thaxton said. “They’re going to leave and graduate, so everybody’s on an even playing field. That’s what they told me. Nothing’s guaranteed, but come in and work hard, and I’ve got a chance to earn a spot.”

Not the kind of rated kid we are used to picking up late in the cycle. It might work out but it's a clear sign that recruiting has slipped.
