When you really get down to it, what does the lawsuit have to do with the football program? The University is being sued. What are they telling recruits the possible punishment will be? Again, how does that affect a recruit?

If you follow the program, a few football players have been accused. But it has nothing to do with that. Some guy named Manning had nothing to do with that. I have tried to be nice but this question of what it has to do with the football program is beyond ignorant.

Negative culture within the university and program that does not take sexual assault seriously. That is what is being sold against us. Also, speculation of cover ups, Butch losing his job over it.... Just imagine the worst that could be dreamed up, and that is being espoused as truth by rival coaches

I think you missed my point. Put yourself in a recruits shoes for a minute. Let's take Mr. Crosby for example. How exactly would the current lawsuit affect him? The only thing I could possibly see is somehow Butch gets fired, which is very far-fetched.

The pace of recruiting, as well as comments by Fortenberry seem to indicate that it is a contributing factor on the recruiting trail.

Half the Tech fans have resigned himself to the fact that he'll pick UT because they are beaten into submission when it comes to big recruiting battles.

The other half are clinging strongly to a something he apparently said to 247:

You see it because you are sensitive to it. Just like when you buy a car you suddenly start seeing that same car everywhere. Its news cycles and nowadays they are so short they almost bend back on themselves. It is not a dark cloud hanging over us, more like a passing shower.

I agree with you. Peyton Manning was all over the news after that ridiculous Shaun King article and that has completely fade away. And, most of it has been utterly debunked.

I am aware of that and good info. However, how many have a lawsuit that was mentioned over and over again and had a major newspaper outlet in their state keeping it running. Also, social media now keeps it out there more than the past. Guys close to the program and media states it is hurting recruiting but I am sure they are wrong. Obviously, this stuff has happened for years. Like I said before that Vandy has had 22 to our 2 cases but being the big name draw got is sued and name dragged thru the crapper. It is what it is. It does not seem fair. But it is happening. Like I also posted. We win then we will get great players who are not bothered by this in February.

Wouldn't that fly in the exact opposite direction of the lawsuit? As a recruit, I would think if that's my concern then that in itself would contradict the negative recruiting thing. Maybe I'm just looking at it from a UT fan standpoint with facts.

This is what I am saying. If you actually evoke empathy and see it from a recruits eyes they are not wrapping their brain around it and parents are adults and hopefully not ignorant, they know it is the current culture nationwide and not exclusive to UT. The only people that say that it is hurting are posters on here and the worry mongers like Fort who are hungry for clicks. Recruits and parents see the depth chart, the facilities the coaches and the education support. Opposing coaches use it of course because they can and its available but wouldn't you look like a jacka$$ if you pushed that? The more you bring up the effects the more the lawyers and the money grabbers win and its a losing battle for them.

You seem to think that every family will see it the same way and have the same response. They won't. There will be a range of reactions. For some it will probably be a non-issue. For others it may be a minor factor. For some it may be a big deal. Just like you see a range of reactions from posters on here, there will be a range of reactions from recruits and families. Think you could take this discussion to the off-topic forum instead of Crosby's thread? With his commitment coming up, I personally want to read info about him here, not about the lawsuit.
