I hope your right Noch . Im just going off of what he said. GBO
Hopefully he picks UT. I do think the new VA Tech coach can sell early PT and being "his guy" like Butch did early on at UT. Kid is a stud DT. We could use him on D.
You seem to think that every family will see it the same way and have the same response. They won't. There will be a range of reactions. For some it will probably be a non-issue. For others it may be a minor factor. For some it may be a big deal. Just like you see a range of reactions from posters on here, there will be a range of reactions from recruits and families. JMO.
Virginia Tech is selling him on the idea of playing both ways. He comes in as a rb on short yardage situation for his high school.
This is correct, they've promised him goal line type carries, as he does play running back at his high school also. I do believe however this kid sees a more successful future at UT than VT, meaning possible step to the NFL after his college career. But I also believe he's good, and he knows he's good, good enough to play and start now, which he most likely would not do at UT. Our depth and talent is light years ahead of VT right now especially our depth, and even more so on defense.

Our talent at DT is excellent, but I don't know if I'd say the same about our depth at the position. We really need a couple DTs in this class.

Wouldn't that fly in the exact opposite direction of the lawsuit? As a recruit, I would think if that's my concern then that in itself would contradict the negative recruiting thing. Maybe I'm just looking at it from a UT fan standpoint with facts.

This is also a huge selling point. The SEC spotlight, the biggest stage. VT and the ACC are a nice regional draw, but the SEC is a national brand.
We desperately need 4-5, IMO. We needed at least one high school DT last year in addition to Johnson, perhaps even two.
We are looking at a 2014 OL situation on the DL in 2018, so it's crucial for Jones to pull in some guys who will be ready to play as redshirt freshmen or true sophomores.
