'17 VA DT/ATH Eric Crosby (UT signee)

I hope your right Noch . Im just going off of what he said. GBO

Nothing would really surprise me considering it's recruiting and he could still show up at Tech but I'd have to assume whoever you talked to is just going off of older information. At one time he was supposed to be there tomorrow but it's been widely discussed since then that those plans changed.

Think you could take this discussion to the off-topic forum instead of Crosby's thread? With his commitment coming up, I personally want to read info about him here, not about the lawsuit.

Or the thread in the RF that is about the lawsuit. Or one of the multiple threads in the FF about the lawsuit.

Hopefully he picks UT. I do think the new VA Tech coach can sell early PT and being "his guy" like Butch did early on at UT. Kid is a stud DT. We could use him on D.

My worry isn't Fuente, it's Bud Foster. That guy has a nack for picking out talent and building players up. I think that's their biggest selling point.

You seem to think that every family will see it the same way and have the same response. They won't. There will be a range of reactions. For some it will probably be a non-issue. For others it may be a minor factor. For some it may be a big deal. Just like you see a range of reactions from posters on here, there will be a range of reactions from recruits and families. JMO.

Well you could say that about just about anything. Im just trying to reflect what I suspect is the predominant sentiment and how people feed the flames. Anyway back to Crosby as the countdown continues...

Virginia Tech is selling him on the idea of playing both ways. He comes in as a rb on short yardage situation for his high school.

This is correct, they've promised him goal line type carries, as he does play running back at his high school also. I do believe however this kid sees a more successful future at UT than VT, meaning possible step to the NFL after his college career. But I also believe he's good, and he knows he's good, good enough to play and start now, which he most likely would not do at UT. Our depth and talent is light years ahead of VT right now especially our depth, and even more so on defense.

Our talent at DT is excellent, but I don't know if I'd say the same about our depth at the position. We really need a couple DTs in this class.

Easier to be showcased at UT though.

We desperately need 4-5, IMO. We needed at least one high school DT last year in addition to Johnson, perhaps even two.

We are looking at a 2014 OL situation on the DL in 2018, so it's crucial for Jones to pull in some guys who will be ready to play as redshirt freshmen or true sophomores.

Exactly. Talent is better at UT but depth is much better at Tech. He might feel he'll get early reps at VT due to just being better than the guys in front of him but, on just numbers alone, we've got less in his way than they do.

Wouldn't that fly in the exact opposite direction of the lawsuit? As a recruit, I would think if that's my concern then that in itself would contradict the negative recruiting thing. Maybe I'm just looking at it from a UT fan standpoint with facts.

Of course but truth and facts are not what is being pushed obviously.

Agreed! Won't discuss it anymore here. Hate when that happens and you are correct.:hi:

The other factor is that the coaching staff is well aware if it is happening and will be taking countermeasures. They will have evidence ready to show recruits and families why there is no problem of this kind here.

This is also a huge selling point. The SEC spotlight, the biggest stage. VT and the ACC are a nice regional draw, but the SEC is a national brand.

Exactly. After Tennessee whoops VT at "Battle at Bristol", it'll prove once again why the SEC is head and shoulders above any other conference in the country.

Yes. We desperately need this guy.
