Saw a post yesterday that DeBord will be leaving after this year. Maybe that is why they wanted to reassure him. Although I actually think DeBord leaving will be a positive if Butch goes outside the family and makes a splash hire.

I hope he stays on as the oline coach but can't argue with the guy if he want to retire after winning the nattie

If he does want to retire it would be a great year to go out. He has a lot of weapons at his disposal and could go out on top.

I hope this doesn't happen. DeBord deserves most of the credit for the improved OL play last year and moving Coleman Thomas to Center. That would be a major blow IMO.

The eternally generic "I saw a post". DeBord loves teaching IMO and has landed in the perfect spot for such. With a loyal former employee as a boss and able to imprint on the OL and coordinate that with his OC duties, I don't see where he would get tired of it in two seasons. Eastside didn't see anything. He's making stuff up...check out his entire body of work. :lol:

Maybe just a favor to Butch. He asked and Debord said sure. I always felt it was going to be a very short term thing. I don't have any issue with the guy as I think he's done well. If he wants to call it good after this season, it's cool.

Because a guy that plays golf and posts on another message board says so. :). Year ago today, the thought of DeBord resigning wouldn't have been brought up. Now that it's considered not a disaster, we'll see plenty of these. Eastside? I frequent that forum from time to time. Some good tidbits can be found and an equal number of regular blowhards talking out their butt. Could have been a fictional golf outing or could be a real one where people shoot their mouths off between holes. I know I'd be desperate if I used it as a SOURCE for my own personal agenda. You NEVER balance anything out on here EVERYTHING is headed to doom and unresolvable problems abound. When you troll, try to mix it up a little...no one buys your bull.

Remember that the only thing in question was that you said the post did not exist.

As I said before, you have to judge the content for yourself. DeBord is 60 years old and has been in coaching for 30 years. Personally I could see him stepping down after this year, especially if him and Butch are not seeing eye to eye on some things.

Speaking of offensive lineman, expect new Vol commitment Riley Locklear to be back on campus next Thursday for the lineman camp with former Vol Chuck Smith. Locklear is likely to bring the entire family down and help the orange recruit other top flight players to join him in this class.

This. I would be willing to take a chance on him as a 1st time OC, because he's an elite recruiter. He will be even better if he's selling to recruits that he's the one calling the shots on O.
