The three-star senior offensive lineman from Spring Valley High School in Huntington, W.Va., said his official visit to Tennessee the weekend of Dec. 10 only served as confirmation of his longstanding commitment to the Vols, and hes now ready to join them next month as an early enrollee.
It wasnt any different experience for me from the other times that Ive been there. It was just confirmation that thats where I wanted to be, said Locklear[.] Really, I just got to spend more time with the players that are there right now and talk to them and build relationships with them. That was a big difference between this visit and my past visits.
Locklear said he also talked extensively with Tennessee coach Butch Jones and offensive line coach Don Mahoney.
I got to spend time with them and just sit down and talk with them about stuff thats going to be coming up, Locklear said. I got to sit down and talk some football with Coach Mahoney in his office sit down and watch some film and stuff and go over some of the things that well be doing in practice whenever I get on campus.
They said, initially, theyre going to keep me in my position that Im in right now, he said. Theyre going to try me out at tackle, and then theyre going to move me inside and outside and see how I adjust, and put me at center for a while, take a few snaps under center.
I really feel like Coach Jones and the rest of the coaching staff there has done a really, really good job with their athletes, and were just going to continue to get better. Ive built a really good relationship with Coach Jones and Coach Mahoney, Locklear said, so Im confident being at Tennessee.
