Yes, I think we should offer. My opinion does not matter at all. If we don't offer, it will take me about 13 seconds to get over it. It is one thing to say he's not a good fit, or that we have other priorities. All of those are understandable and possible. But, if you question his character based upon the fact that we have not offered, then you should be questioning a helluva lot more kids' character. That is going too far without having any evidence to support it. I don't get too bent out of shape about any recruit because I cannot see the future. I don't know how anyone is going to work out and I do trust our coaches to make good evaluations. So, my advice to you, since you are so quick to give it to me, is for you to learn the difference between insulting a kid and stating an opinion. It might do you some good.
Breakerboy had made it clear that he will attack and insult anyone who suggests that his assessment is wrong, so we are left to speculate on what, besides talent, has prevented the Vols from offering. BB attributes it to some combination of stupidity and laziness on the part of the coaching staff. Some of us don't believe that. So when you start looking at what the reason could be, and you list all possible reasons, character is one, grade problems is one, fit problem is one... It was asked, and if you have information to say, no, that's not it, then do so and the discussion is over. If you don't, then it isn't an unreasonable thing to ask (posit is probably a better term) and let someone closer to the situation respond. In the context of this conversation, I don't see how you think the poster was attacking the kid. I read it and thought he was positing an possible explanation, which is what people do when they don't understand a situation. On top of Breakerboy assaults on anyone that speculated to that the kid may not be as good as he thinks, this thread is left to do nothing but whine about coaches.
