Both Pruitt and Helton made a strong impression on Martinez, expressed their need for his skill-set in Tennessee's "pro-style system."
Sounds like there was some real honest conversations about Martinez's recruitment and the process moving forward. Tennessee's new staff reiterated to Martinez that he's wanted in Knoxville and there's an opportunity to compete for the spot on Day 1.
New Nebraska head coach Scott Frost is expected to visit Martinez later this week and then a final decision will be made.
Tennessee definitely slowed the "Martinez is a lock to flip to Nebraska" talk but was it enough to keep the 4-star quarterback? We'll see. It's tough to form relationships that quickly. One favorable factor for Tennessee though is just how much Martinez and his family like Knoxville, the people and the school all independent of the football team.
Martinez plans to graduate early and sign next week on the 20th. If he can't make a decision, he could push the date back until February, but after not playing his entire senior season due to his shoulder injury, he wants to get on a campus in January and immediately get to work.
