Why do people fawn over Akers, but doubt Chandler? I have never understood that. I think Akers is a good back, he nay be a great one..I really believe that Chandler can be better. Is it because the services gave Akers an extra shiny star?

2 great RBs are better than 1
Jalen Hurd saga. Under utilized Kamara, which definitely hurt his body of work and ultimately his draft stock.
That about do it?
.... losses to Vandy, failure to win anything meaningful, etc. Maybe a better questions is why would an rb want to be a Vol when he is also being recruited by teams that have had much more recent success. Not trying to be a Nega, just sometimes am absolutely amazed by how out of touch some of these sunshine pumpers can be. IMHO, butch has done quite well recruiting given the limited success that the Vols have had under his watch.

Tennessee still has plenty of options at running back.
The decommitment of three-star all-purpose back Jashaun Corbin of Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy in Melbourne, Fla., came as a bit of a surprise to the Vols, if only because of the timing. Corbin had been committed to Tennessee for less than a month. The Vols knew they were going to have to battle to hold onto him, and they clearly had plenty of competition for him. But they couldn’t have expected to lose him this soon.
But even with Corbin no longer being part of Tennessee’s class, there’s no reason for the Vols to panic as they continue their search for running backs — ideally two of them — in the 2018 class. They have cast a fairly wide net to this point, extending offers to more than 30 running backs, and they’re still in good shape with several targets.
Lyn-J Dixon of Butler, Ga., remains a high priority and a real possibility for Tennessee, and the Vols still are battling Top247 prospect Master Teague of Murfreesboro, Tenn., although Auburn and now Georgia have emerged as perhaps the favorites to land him. Tae Provens of Gurley, Ala., has been high on Tennessee for months, and three-stars Anthony Grant of Buford, Ga., and Jahmir Smith of Sanford, N.C., are among the other running-back targets who have visited the Vols this year. Several others have shown interest in Tennessee but have yet to make the trip to Knoxville.
