'18 FL WR Jacob Copeland (Florida signee)

I’m surprised Bama is really not a factor no more .

Did you watch Alabama play?
Jalen can only throw a tagged slant route.

He has no pro future and has played in 2 straight NC games... So they can't bench him.

Recivers go to Alabama now to block with Jalen at qb and just catch slants vs SEC opponents, and get to play in the first half versus non conference opponents

Copeland is a Florida boy to his core, Pruitt has a great relationship and Bama was rumored to want him at DB (hence why Pruitt has good relationship with him). Now granted Tenn wants him at WR and if he were my son I would want him in UT's new offense over Mullen's but Bama was the only way he wasn't coming to UF, couple that with distance I don't see that changing barring something catastrophic.

(PS Copeland is a dog and fierce competitor and no commit at his position will impact his decision)

well, i think we need him more than the other two programs do. i think that'll count for something.

he's already been on campus and gotten a feel for that.

i believe the relationship with CJP will count big time in the end, and if we can generate some momentum possibly with some other guys committing...maybe he then sees TN as a place he can accomplish what he wants to. maybe reaching there, but i think sometimes if you can get a group of guys of the same caliber to commit, it can positively affect these kinds of kids that may be leaning your way, and that might put it over the top.

i think the unknown is what kind of stock he puts in to the offensive system, and the qb he'll be playing with.

Justin Watkins is a slot all the way so yea maybe he doesn’t affect his decision more so the OSU transfer Trevon Grimes that guy has #1 WR written all over him

You’e probably right about no other commits affecting his decision now that I remember he was committed earlier when UF already had a 5 wr class now it’s looking like it will be a 3 man class at best possibly even 2 if Gammage goes somewhere else since he didn’t sign the staff may tell him hit the road if they start feeling good about landing the top 2 on the board

Jacob Copeland spoke very highly of Pruitt down in Orlando, noting that Tennessee’s new head coach started a relationship with him when he was in the 9th grade. The 4-star wideout gave glowing reviews of his OV on Rocky Top the weekend before the dead period, too. While the Pensacola native will visit Texas A&M and Alabama in early January, it appears to be a two-team race between SEC East rivals for Copeland down the stretch. Florida, where Copeland was originally committed, is set to receive the final official visit. Copeland really likes the Gators new receivers coach Billy Gonzales and spent a lot of time with QB commit Emory Jones down in Orlando. UF may hold a slight edge right now, but it would be foolish to discount Tennessee and Copeland’s longtime relationship with Pruitt.

If distance is a factor he will go to Alabama or Florida state. Even auburn is two hours closer than Gainesville.

FSU isn’t in the picture at all he just don’t like the noles for whatever reason

He even said Deion Sanders was “as fake as they come” lol

I know that. The notion of proximity however is dumb. Anyone who’s been to Pensacola knows it’s 5 1/2 hours of boredom to Gainesville. If distance is a factor he’d choose several other programs first.

Get what you're saying but for whatever reason those programs never made a push. Clemson wouldn't even take him during the summer.

Looks like he was recruited by Charles Kelly and Lawrence Dawsey for FSU. He seems to really dislike FSU, so UT's hiring of one or both of them might be a problem here.

I'm an optimistic person (read: homer), so I'm conditioning myself to the idea that Copeland and Taylor-Stuart wont end up here.

But I don't think Kelly or Dawsey would affect us. From what I understand, FSU was at one point Copelands favorite. It had been reported that Jimbo Fisher had literally stopped recruiting efforts about mid-season.

The draw to UT is early playing time and Pruitt. Those are the two things keeping us in it.

Distance is a factor when it comes to leaving the state of Florida. Bama was the only out of state school he would go to. If I have to explain that any further then you won't get it.

I agree, Tenn has better scheme, Pruitt has great relationship but outside of something disastrous in the 11th hr it's UF.

Even as the most homerish Tenn fan you have to see him not stepping on campus after visiting three other schools is the not the best of omens.

He took an OV to Knoxville, or did I miss something?

Gosh I hope Coach Pruitt reads this so he knows to not waste his time anymore.

Find me a link for this because none of our boards are saying this. Sounds like you are really stretching here for whatever reason. Pruitt started recruiting him at UGA when he was a freshman because Pruitt just came from FSU and had connections in the area. Many position coaches recruit players because of their connections to the area not because of the position.

UA is trying to get one more WR in the class. The top is probably J Ross(instate #1) likely end up at Clemson. Next on our board seems to be Waddle but aTm may have the edge. I would say Copeland is 3rd on our board from everything out there.

Like I mentioned we are only taking one more WR and why Watkins is headed to UF because we had no room for him and he wanted to commit to us.

I would try him at both WR and DB. Let him play where he is the best.
