'18 FL WR Jacob Copeland (Florida signee)

If we hired Locksley, im guessing that would give us another connection to Copeland? I know Pruitt was his main guy but I'd assume locksley was also involved to an extent.

Normally I wouldn't think we pull him but he probably doesn't feel like Saban will ever give him a real shot at the full OC after being passed up twice

From 247...
ORLANDO, Fla. — Four-star wide receiver Jacob Copeland backed off his commitment to Florida in November as the Gators were going through a coaching change. Florida new head coach, Dan Mullen, has been regular contact with the 6-foot, 195-pound prospect.

“He texts me,” Copeland said of Mullen. “He hits me up every now and then, just good luck out here [at the Under Armour All-America game]. That’s all he would say.”

Copeland went on to explain why Florida remains in the picture despite his decommitment.

“Florida, it’s a great school to go to education-wise. They’re trying to rebuild the program.”

The Gators are in line to get Copeland’s final official visit before February’s National Signing Day with trips to Alabama and Texas A&M schedule to come in the weeks prior. Is there significance to Florida getting the last trip?

“That don’t mean nothing,” Copeland answered. “I just set that up because Mullen had set that up with me. We just wanted to set that up, but it don’t mean nothing.”

Alabama will get the visit before Florida’s. Copeland explained with Alabama remains a player in his recruitment.

“That’s just Nick Saban. You just can’t go wrong playing for him…He could use me right now on the field, because he’s going to be losing at lot of depth.”

Copeland’s lead recruiter for the longest time was Jeremy Pruitt, who is now Tennessee’s head coach. Does that hurt the Crimson Tide’s chances?

“That don’t hurt at all. Alabama is still going to be Alabama.”

The Vols, who got a visit from Copeland in December, is now a player for the talented Sunshine State athlete.

“Pruitt took that job. Pruitt has been recruiting me since freshman year. Him being the top dog at Tennessee now, the head coach, that will set high for Tennessee for me.”

The industry-generated 247Sports Composite currently ranks Copeland as the nation’s No. 54 overall recruit in the 2018 class.

Gut feeling on this kid is Bama vs UF. But if anyone can prove me wrong, it’s Pruitt. Go get him!

He's saying his visits to UF and Bama are set up because they just had to get set up sometime.
But not to look to much into the timing.

He adds Pruitt making Tennessee really high on the list.

It sounds like were number one.

BUT after Bama giving Tua the keys to the offense last night...Bama suddenly has a dangerous and more importantly attractive pass game

If he is picking a school for the ability of their q.b. to pass, we don’t have a chance.

Gosh these guys never rest

Of course they did, and they planned to the whole time. Recruiting is the lifeblood of CFB, and I gaurantee you I would have been on the phone with every major target on the list as a soon as the post game festivities were over. It is the absolute greatest time to sell. And these kids are suckers for attention.

but its a dead period...

From NCAA

"During a dead period a college coach may not have face-to-face contact with college-bound student-athletes or their parents, and may not watch student-athletes compete or visit their high schools. Coaches may write and telephone student-athletes or their parents during a dead period."
