'18 GA DE Jamarcus Chatman (Former UT commit 6/25/17)

the ESPN coverage of Fields kinda ticks me off. They find one highlight from the game and blow it up. Watch the Number 1 player in the nation hurdle a defender! Oh wow, great play. How did the rest of the game go? Oh he spent most of it on his back or running for his life, yeah we aren't going to talk about those plays or the players that were doing it.

Beast DB 2.0 on the way.I like this guy as much as any DL recruit we have offered .

Yeah, I'm not an expert by a long stretch, but watching the highlight videos, Chatman seems to be very explosive. I know most analysts think he will be a DT in college, but man, he looks really good as a SDE in high school.

The other D-line commit who really impresses me is Lawless. He's just very athletic for a guy his size.

Only rationale I have is we lost so much on defense last year and it being year one with whoop as the dc. However he has been reported saying the slide last year was his fault for being stubborn and not adjusting to personnel on the field. Try and figure that one out.....
He owned up to it and said it was his own stubborness. Now he has 2 new coaches and getting a heck of a lot of commitments to go with an already talented group. I think he would like to have several more aggressive LB's. We just
lost Kirkland again for an indefinite period. All in all I see UT's defense on the rise with a very high ceiling.:twocents:

New video interview up on Rivals by Chad Simmons. I've transcribed it for you, because I'm one hell of a guy. Not direct quotes, but pretty close:

What sold you on Tennessee

The coaches, the fans. Everyone from the coaches to fans made me feel wanted. Coaches showed me how I could play early when I got there. The communications systems, because that's what I'm going to major in. Everything was awesome.

When you watch Tennessee football this fall, what do you want to see?

I just want to see how Coach Brady coaches the DL, and I want to see some technique they use coming off the line.

You're active on social media, what other guys are you talking to trying to get to Tennessee?

I really want Griffin and Anderson to come with me.

Whats your sales pitch to come to Tennessee?

I tell them that coaches will treat you like family, they won't treat you different from anybody else. They're real about everything they say.

People will wonder because you committed to LSU and changed your mind. Where do you stand with Tennessee now?

I'm solid. I'm not going anywhere.

To be fair to Fields though, Harrison is pretty much a one man team. They hadn't won more than 5 games in a season in 8 years before he took over. Rome is loaded pretty much everywhere.

I know people like to kill Griffin in this thread for whatever reason, but he is consistently the most productive player on the Rome defense. He was the best player in the Championship game last year against Buford.

From the AJC high school players of the week:

*Rome DT Quon Griffin had four sacks, 10 tackles overall, a fumble recovery and a defensive touchdown in a 33-21 victory over Harrison.

For real. I'm starting to think offering him as a package deal to get Anderson would be a good move.

Problem is, we only have a certain amount of spots left. I'm not sure if we even have room for Griffin considering we still have several players left on the top of our board.

Maybe offer a PWO spot with intentions to put him on scholarship spring 2019.
