'18 GA QB Emory Jones (Ohio State commit)

Just watched some Emory Jones tape for the first time in a while and I finally got a player comparison for him.

He's Jameis Winston 2.0.

The kid has great touch passing the ball. But he's not that athletic. Watching his tape, he even reminds me of high school Jameis the way he runs.

He'll be a great QB but truthfully he probably isn't the best fit for our offense. I watched tape of that Justin Fields kid for the first time tonight and he's a better fit. More athletic runner. And a good arm to boot.

Interesting you came to this conclusion right after Fields looks to be next on our list and Jones commits to OSU.

This kid isn't too bright. How many QB's has OSU successfully put in the NFL? Tennessee? I rest my case.......

Wish I could agree, but we haven't put a quality QB in the league since 1997.

Big red flag that he is willing going into that level of competition rather than our more attractive depth chart. Telling you elite QB recruits are bailing out.
I saw this coming months ago.

Lawrence and EJ are friends. It would be interesting to ask them why. Probably just a coincidence that Johnson, Lawrence, and Emory Jones moved on after a close look within the program .

Must get great QB's if we want to become WRU again. Right now that title is held by Clemson.

I'm gonna be honest. I'm not that disappointed with this kid not coming here.

I watched a few interviews with him and he doesn't come off as confident or having leader attributes.

QB is the only position you gotta look at more than physical tools. Guys like Dobbs and Guarantano exude a swagger and confidence that says they can be trusted to lead a football team.

I didn't get that from Emory Jones.

Hahahahahahahahaha

It's 18 months until he signs. It ain't over. He and OSU are going steady. There are two seasons of football left before he signs. Meyer may get heart palpitations again. Michigan may dominate him and he seeks psychiatric help. So many things can happen.

We will have our 18 QB committed before jones could change his mind and flip.

Maybe, maybe we'll have a commitment but it's not the same as the one we sign. So much can happen in that amount of time. You're old, you should know that.

Bad idea IMO.

QB is the leader. If we take a QB commit and want him to help build that class he MUST be guaranteed that spot is his.

Otherwise you get what we've got now. 23 commits and it looking like no one is helping recruit because most of them have no clue if they will have a spot come NSD.

I typically don't watch tape unless the kid commits or is a big target.

And I'm the last person to paint a rosy picture about a prospect simply because he's commits to us or doesn't.

I'm still saying Tee Higgins is a generational talent eventhough he's with Clemson right now. I'm still saying Maleik Gray is not that great a prospect eventhough he's our highest rated recruit according to the recruiting services.

I tells it like it is.

I'm still saying Tee Higgins is a generational talent. I'm still staying Maleik Gray is not much outside of being really athletic.

I tells it like it is.

And you just decided Emory Jones was questionable today? LOL

We saw how that worked with Hunter Johnson. Placed all our eggs in one basket and got bit in the ass. I would never let that happen again. I recruit until the inks dry.

"Tape." Dude, just call it Hudl like everybody else.

And unless you actually are breaking down game film and not just looking at the plays a player hand picks to make him look as good as possible, then don't act like you're some authority on evaluating players. If you really think you can give more than a halfway accurate evaluation of a player based on Hudl highlights, then you're delusional and all those great "investments" you've been sold on recently are most likely pyramid schemes. Get out while you can.
