Yea, and so was Auburn at this point last year. If we are in the top 10 and in the National Championship conversation in mid October then we have something to hang out hat on.

Butch has a lot to sell. Knoxville is a great place with facilities second to none. The fan support is as good as any place in the nation. He is coming off a 9 win season. Playing time is WIDE OPEN for the RB position. Winning big is important this year and Butch needs to do that but let's not pretend there are not plenty of reasons for recruits to be knocking down our door.

I could tear the entire post apart line by line but I'm already bored.

How about we just go with the one thing we already agree on.
"Butch needs to win big this year"
Everybody seems to agree here.
So why can't some of you just shut up long enough to see the results?


I'm not even being mean, it's an honest question.
Why can't you guys just keep the negativity bottled up long enough for the finale?
Is it some kind of mouthy medical condition where you will literally explode if you don't whine on a consistent basis or what?

OK we can agree on that. Butch needs to win big this year. Somehow I don't think fans are going to wait until the end of the year to quit posting though. Winning and losing these recruiting battles is a big deal. I think things will change if Butch can get recruiting turned around and you will see a lot more positive posts.

Well geez its July of 2016 and this 2018 QB committed to OSU. I guess Butch should just stop recruiting him. I am pretty certain every other coach who was recruiting him will just stop all together now. Butch really sucks at recruiting.

Most will be positive but some will find something to be negative about. I have a sneaky suspicion that you will be one of those.

Never said fans should not post, suggested waiting on the final outcome BEFORE declaring eminent destruction.

Would it really be so horrible to wait on results before the meltdown?
Rhetorical, some people just can't help but pull out the "end is near" signs for every tremor.

It's not a matter of being afraid of competition. It's the history UT has for dumping commitments. Fields knows he wasn't above TL and EJ on the board. If I'm Fields I don't even think about committing if I know you're still pushing for the other 2. I'm the guy or I'm not. It's that simple.

Yes it can be about competition. If you dont think every major D1 schools dump commitments every single year then you are just fooling yourself. Besides we are talking about 2018 guys in the middle of 2016. Your last three sentences reiterate that you just dont really get recruiting.

It appears Clemson doesn't dump a commitment unless they take visits.

Not really. Isn't Dormady, Jones, Guarantano, and Lewis competition? If I'm a QB for the 2018 class and you want me to commit and help recruit for Tennessee for the next year and a half, I'd need some assurances. It's not being afraid of anything. It's being smart.

Cardale Jones, the kid that came out of nowhere a couple years ago to play phenomenally and lead OSU to a big win over Bama and a national title was just drafted in the 4th round as well.
