'18 GA QB Justin Fields

The OC like is the case at most schools.

We have an OC that is also has the title of QB coach. If that is the problem problem then chance OCs.

I don't get why we keep making a bigger deal about this than it is.
You are wrong. Most schools have QB coaches in more than title.

We aren't going to do this again

My Post was regarding Fields not having a Position coach to relate to in recruiting.

Penn state, Tennessee, and Georgia all have OCs that are listed as QB coaches so it isn't like fields is being neglected and doesn't have a position coach to relate to like was said in the OP which I responded to.

Told you guys he was gone if UGA offered. Not sure it's a good fit for him, but he's been visiting there like crazy the last few months without an offer and with being a backup plan to Lawrence. The writing was on the wall a long time ago IMO. It's amazing to me we can't get a big-time '18 QB with us striking out on one in the '17 class.

DeBord has almost zero experience though with coaching / developing QB's. He may have the title but other schools can easily point to his resume and show he lacks the experience. His resume is almost exclusively with the OL.

Bottom line is our staff needs way better recruiters than we have. I can't believe how poorly this '17 class is going when we are finally winning. Something is seriously wrong.

Little to early for the I told you soes with the mom taking to social media to beg fans to help her convince her son of where to go. You guys aren't reading the post. She says it was the offer she had been waiting on not we had been waiting on. She then begs fans to win over her son. Tells me he isn't sold on the dawgs

The Penn state OC has poor resume when it comes to coaching QBs and they are squarely in the mix

I'll be shocked if he doesn't end up there. His multiple visits there over the last few months without an offer, while he hasn't returned to Tennessee during that time, are pretty much a dead giveaway IMO. It's pretty easy to see this is playing out just like Emory Jones. For some reason we cannot close the deal with these guys even with them being perfect fits for our system and no QB competition whatsoever in the '17 class.

Being a good fit for our system and having (or not having) great recruiters on our staff was not going to deflect his longing for a UGA offer or his desire to ultimately play at UGA. It appears that depth chart as well as incoming competition is not a big factor to him, which in many situations, is the case for a highly rated QB.

Keep in mind that UT was one of the first major programs to offer Fields back in July. PSU and UT have pretty much been there from the beginning. After the ship sailed with Emory Jones (committed to tOSU on 7/29), UT immediately focused on Fields (UT offered on 7/27) and has been pretty much the sole focus as the 2018 class QB ever since.

I'm not sure if you are putting all of the blame on the UT coaching staff, but IMO, I don't think doing so in this case is exactly fair. The battle for Emory Jones could be a different discussion.

Guys, It's not over by any means but it's not looking good either with the UGA offer & what his mother had to say. Just remember for 2018 just as of right now, we also have Micheal Penix Jr., James Foster, & Dakereon Joyner that we have offered as well. There will be more offers to come as well for 2018 at QB I'm sure.

Others that could be offered are Allan Walters, Tyler DeSue, Devin Leary, & Gunnar Watson. These are players we haven't offered but have already shown interest in most of them. They are all top 30 QB's including the ones listed above except for Penix Jr. who is ranked 31st Pro-Style QB.

Are any of them really top ranked guys?

You must have missed what I said in my previous post. I said they were ALL in the top 31 when you include Penix Jr. who is listed as the #31st Pro-Style QB. The last four I listed for 2018 are a mix.

Anywhere from being ranked #22nd(Walters) & #24th(DeSue) to as low as #58th ranked QB(Gunnar Watson) for 2018. Devin Leary is ranked #33rd of them all. Thanks!

Thought Felix was the RB we were going after?

And how is the 31st ranked QUARTERBACK a "top guy"? 30 QBs ranked ahead of him.

Supposed to have been Penix Jr. butcha. Thanks for catching my error.

I was talking or comparing 2017 & 2018 recruits rankings as top players in their class. BTW, I never said they were top ranked guys to begin with. That was the question asked.

I never said they were. I gave their rankings to prove that. Having said that up to 31st for 2017 & up to 58th got 2018 isn't too bad because we have 22nd, 24th, & 33rd ranked guys in there.

It's a bad fit for him. Kind of weird. Lawrence seems to be leaning Clemson when he fits better at UGA and Fields probably fits better at Clemson that UGA.

Someone who is talented will be transferring out of Georgia.

Could be Eason. He has made some plays that make you go Wow at time but I think it should be a little alarming to them that the pass game is struggling as badly as it is regardless of opponent. He isn't progressing. Bray in this offense looked like a 140 pound superstar his freshman year

Hmmm..you told us? So point where he committed to Georgia.

I dont know about that. Eason is a true FR playing behind a bad OL with a small WR corps. Also, he is in a run first offense with a new HC, OC and OL coach. Gotta give him a chance. I think Eason will be one of the best QBs the SEC has seen in awhile if Smart can get the OL fixed.
