I think a big part is that Smart has made keeping the top GA prospects in GA a priority. Richt was getting some, but many were leaving state. That isn't the case right now.

A bunch of good players this year have committed to out of state schools. They have over 30 4-stars just about every year. Even South Carolina has landed three 4-stars out of there already. We have 4 commits from guys rated well outside the Top 50 in the state. We have never had a class out of there anywhere close to being that bad. Did losing Jancek hurt more than we realize? Wasn't he the one with strong ties to that state?

No doubt. If he loses both Tee and Trey that will absolutely destroy our in-state perception going forward. I mean Trey's freaking sister works in the recruiting office.

I agree, but I think fewer of those guys are leaving state now. They can't take all of them obviously. As for why we aren't getting the few that are leaving, I don't know except to say there are fewer leaving and maybe more legit competition like USCe and Muschamp.

Whatever it is, it needs to be addressed immediately. We've always recruited Georgia well. Even last year we landed 3 4*'s out of there, same with the class before that.

Maybe we should have just taken all the instate guys right Leb? That would have made this class great since Tennessee is chock full of talent.

Ah, we didnt want him anyway. We are in on so many better QBs. Dont worry though, I am sure we can find the Cam Sutton of Qbs. 3* QBs win in the SEC ALL the time. We are fine.

According to D4H our wealth of in-state talent doesn't kick in until 2018 & 2019. I have checked into this & he's actually telling the truth about this. There are going to be a bunch & I mean a bunch of Tennessee talent beginning in 2018 & going thru at least 2019. Things in-state don't look too bad for 2020 either but the question is who will be our head coach by then? Thanks!

I do feel like Fields was probably tops in the 2018 class for QB but we have many more to choose from. I posted them a page back.

Joyner is actually the highest rated of all the QB's for 2018 but we appear not to have a chance with him. All the others we are in on & have a legit shot at getting.

Edit: I'm sorry the QB's I posted was in another thread but I thought it was in the Fields thread. I'll find it. It was in the Justin Rogers(QB) thread instead.
