'18 GA RB Anthony Grant (FSU signee)

No insider here, I was thinking Grant as strong safety. Now there's this: "I had to look around some because you just never know, but a big reason I have stayed committed is because of coach G, the running backs coach. We just have a great relationship." "They want me at running back," said Grant. "They talked to me about that during the visit. They said I am versatile and that could use me in many different ways at running back."

So he’s committed but he doesn’t really know and the other schools are right there at the top as well?

Uh... okay.

If we really want him he needs to be told to reaffirm his committment and shut it down. No reason to keep taking visits if we really want him

RB not Safety?

I think Tennessee likes him athletically and would like to keep him in the class. To do that they have to recruit him as a running back and Grant made it clear that Pruitt told him he would get the opportunity at that position.

If he doesn't end up in the class I think it will be his choice. If Tennessee was going to part ways with him, I think they would have already done that.

I like him as a RB or a S. He will help us win at either position.

My dream of keeping Grant in the class may come true.

LOVE quotes like this!!!

"When I first committed [to Tennessee] I knew the school is great no matter who the coaches are and I knew the fans that love the sport of football are amazing. I knew that something about the place was different, so when all the coaching changes went down I didn’t really panic.

Just watched his hudl. Grant the rb sees and feels the field, quick to make his break for space, can make tacklers miss, can be hard to take down, faster than I thought he would be. Not sure how to compare him to Alvin Kamara and not sure of his upside, but I can see why coaches would get the ball to him. On defence, he is aggressive, moves fast and hits hard if it's there. If one hand is all he can get on it, he does it instead of whiffing. Looks like more upside, college and pro, but I'll let the coaches do their jobs.

That is what I am seeing in Grant. Good solid Rb, but he has more star potential on defense imo.

I agree with Vol Main. Let the coaches do their job. I don't think these guys need help from posters on this board. They have already caused enough problems in the past.

How exactly?

— three-star tennessee commitment anthony grant of buford (ga.) high school finally returned to knoxville for his official visit with the vols despite recently having visited virginia tech and north carolina. Grant rarely has done interviews in recent months, but sources said the visit went well and tennessee still has a real chance of holding onto him. The vols made it clear to grant that they want him and that he’d get an opportunity to play running back under new coach jeremy pruitt’s staff. It still feels like a toss-up on whether he will stick with tennessee, but there seems to be more optimism about the vols’ chances of keeping him coming out of the weekend. Virginia tech appears to be the biggest threat to tennessee at the moment, but he’s now planning to visit florida state after the seminoles extended an offer to him on friday.

“for the first time meeting all the new coaches, it was really good, honestly,” said grant, who’s ranked the no. 390 overall prospect and no. 16 running back in the 247sports composite for the 2018 class. “i really enjoyed it. Coach pruitt, i felt like he was very straight-up. He told me what he wanted my role (to be). It was just great for me to go up there and meet all the coaches. “i have been taking visits, so, i mean, yeah, (my commitment) was kind of wobbly. But it kind of flattened things out, me going up there, meeting all the coaches and stuff.”

grant, who previously hadn’t been back to tennessee since attending the vols’ game sept. 30 against georgia, said he only had “talked on the phone” with pruitt going into the visit. Grant’s first meeting with pruitt couldn’t have gone much better.

“i was really impressed,” grant said. “he seemed really smart in how he was talking. I was just really impressed with what he had to say. “he said that i would fit really good with what they’re trying to do. He said that i was very versatile, and i could do a lot of things. I can catch and do a lot of things out of the backfield.” and if there was any question about which position tennessee might envision grant playing, he said the vols are recruiting him as a “running back.” “my plan, when i first went up there, i was just trying to get a feel for the coaches, see if the coaching staff still felt the same,” he said. Grant's conclusion? “yes, they really do,” he added.

“that’s one of the biggest reasons why i stay committed, is because of coach g,” grant said. “i don’t know. I just love him as a person and just everything. Just like i said about coach pruitt, he’s real with me. He really cares and he knows what he’s talking about.” but he said gillespie isn’t the only reason he has stuck with the vols to this point. “i mean, yeah, coach g,” grant said. “but, also, tennessee’s a great school — the fan base and just everything. I didn’t want to just give up on an opportunity like that.”

How is stating my opinion, (which is the reason this effin board exists is for us to discuss these things) causing a freaking problem? Its not like I'm not on favor of taking Grant. I never said he was horrible at anything.

Once again..answer this simple
question, after watching Grants film do you honestly see the potential to be an elite ability SEC RB with pro potential?...He is not awful at RB, but seems that solid backup is his ceiling. I may be wrong and turns into John Kelley, but I think he has a better chance of being Javier Arenas.

This kid doesn't have a 247 or rivals page that I can find, but he's teammates with Grant and seems to take all the same visits Grant does (UT, UNC), so it may just be Grant bringing his buddy around. Anyway, just gonna drop this here.

Bigger than Javier Arenas.

Grant is absolutely a SS.

But he could also be a solid Rb

No, he's no Cadillac Williams or Reggie Bush. But he is a Power 5 talent at RB

He's better at safety long-term

Hard to tell what’s going to happen with this kid. A lot of info floating out there but nothing from his end.

He’s remained committed to us throughout the whole ordeal. Props to him.

Hope we keep him though. Would love to see him in Orange.

He's a kid.

Only knows what is fun. Not what is best.

Whether he goes to UNC, VTech, or UT...he's going to be safety eventually. And a damn good one.
