for the first time meeting all the new coaches, it was really good, honestly, said grant, whos ranked the no. 390 overall prospect and no. 16 running back in the 247sports composite for the 2018 class. i really enjoyed it. Coach pruitt, i felt like he was very straight-up. He told me what he wanted my role (to be). It was just great for me to go up there and meet all the coaches. i have been taking visits, so, i mean, yeah, (my commitment) was kind of wobbly. But it kind of flattened things out, me going up there, meeting all the coaches and stuff.
grant, who previously hadnt been back to tennessee since attending the vols game sept. 30 against georgia, said he only had talked on the phone with pruitt going into the visit. Grants first meeting with pruitt couldnt have gone much better.
i was really impressed, grant said. he seemed really smart in how he was talking. I was just really impressed with what he had to say. he said that i would fit really good with what theyre trying to do. He said that i was very versatile, and i could do a lot of things. I can catch and do a lot of things out of the backfield. and if there was any question about which position tennessee might envision grant playing, he said the vols are recruiting him as a running back. my plan, when i first went up there, i was just trying to get a feel for the coaches, see if the coaching staff still felt the same, he said. Grant's conclusion? yes, they really do, he added.
thats one of the biggest reasons why i stay committed, is because of coach g, grant said. i dont know. I just love him as a person and just everything. Just like i said about coach pruitt, hes real with me. He really cares and he knows what hes talking about. but he said gillespie isnt the only reason he has stuck with the vols to this point. i mean, yeah, coach g, grant said. but, also, tennessees a great school the fan base and just everything. I didnt want to just give up on an opportunity like that.
