'18 LA TE Glenn Beal (Texas A&M signee)

The Vols continue to trend for tight end Glen Beal. One team that won’t go away is Ole Miss. Beal visited Oxford a few weeks back and the Rebels remain persistent in their pursuit.

Ole Miss? Really? Why. with all the trouble they are in? Got to be all VOL!

I believe the only troubles they have left remaining is 1 more bowl ban. Which they are trying to get removed. Everything else was self imposed last season. they will probably have a lot of playing time available for young guys.

TE Glenn Beal, River Ridge, La.

Beal, a three-star prospect, named Tennessee his leader less than a month ago before a visit to Texas A&M made the Aggies the team to beat. But the Vols never faded out of the picture, and they appear to be strong contenders for Beal coming off their visit with him earlier this week. Texas A&M’s optimism about Beal seems to have faded a bit recently, according to sources, but at least a couple of other teams now could be factors in addition to the Vols. Alabama and Ole Miss, which hosted him on his latest visit, might be in play, and some think the Crimson Tide might be willing to squeeze Beal into their class. LSU also could be a factor if the Tigers find room down the stretch. Tennessee remains in good shape for now, but the Vols still have serious competition for him.

Because NO WAY do we take three TEs....I mean, really. Jeez.

Seems they should have figured that out when he said we led.

To me if they keep him at TE, them it comes down to something like this: what TE do you want out there on 3 and 1 when you need to run the ball to get a first down? The skinny TE's we have now or 260 pound Beal? I am excited about this kid purely because he can make the run game better. But he is also versatile and could move to DE if better suited I guess.

Different style. I honestly thought Warren was a lot bigger than he is. We need a big earthmover on the edge.

Signing 3 TEs makes zero sense

Pruitt wants 6-5+ blocking TEs for his offense. Current Vols are shorter (pass-catching?) TEs.

Tennessee TEs

80 Eli Wolf / 6-4, 224, RSJr., 1V
88 LaTrell Bumphus / 6-3, 258, So., 1V
81 Austin Pope / 6-4, 230, RSSo., 1V
84 TE James Brown / 6-3, 222, RSFr.

Pruitt has signed:

TE Dominik Wood-Anderson / 6-5, 250, Jr., 2CC - juco
EE TE Jacob Warren / 6-6, 211, Fr., HS

Pruitt is recruiting

Beal / 6-5, 250

Alabama TEs (for comparison purposes)

Smith / 6-4, 246, So.
Hentges / 6-5, 249, Jr.
Forristall / 6-5, 238, So.
Tennison / 6-5, 245, Fr.
Stewart / 6-8, 266, So.
