'18 TN DB Brendon Harris (UT Commit 5/19/17)

So, Vandy and South Carolina would be high level ACC teams.

Nope, I'm not buying it.

I'm not a Butch basher and I'm glad he's still our coach, but he split 2 outta 4 of the actual hard SEC games last year and fully crapped the bed on the Vandy and USC games.

I'm fully aware of our injury issues last year, but we should have beat those 2 teams with our third string.

Usc had a 17 year old freshman at the helm and we made Vandy's QB look like a Heisman candidate.

I agree. I think if we hadn't had the injuries last year we beat SCar, Vandy, and TAMU. We would've had a great shot at Bama too.

The TAMU game is when we really started wracking up injuries. I agree with you too on that game as well.

Yeah, I get it that some people want to say no matter what we should've beaten SC and Vandy, but with the amount of injuries we had, and the amount of different starters and players playing out of their natural position we had, it's a miracle we didn't lose more. I think a fully healthy team last year wins 10.

Maybe CBJ shouldn't have fired Lawson. The team looked weaker compared to 2015

I honestly don't think injuries cost us any of those 3 games. We should have beaten SC and Vandy regardless. And A'M the turnovers are what killed us against them. A'M had a few costly turnovers too but ours far outweighed theirs and we still should have beaten them. Good teams would have beaten us by 28+ with all the turnovers and mistakes we made in that game..Without the turnovers we beat them by 17-21+..Ala was the only team that just dominated us. But things even out over the year because if V.Tech doesn't go into turnover mode half the game they most likely beat us going away. And we really should have lost to Appy.St as bad as we played.

Great post..I agree 100%..We had no business losing to Carolina nor Vandy..Boils down to we choked..We had a chance to win the East then lost to SC..then had a chance to salvage things and all we had to do was beat Vandy and we go to the Sugar Bowl..but we choked both times.

Doesn't work like that. 3rd string vs starters....no

I can't wait until how much last season won't matter for the 18' season. I Should have been a Bama fan the last decade but I'm not... so we lost those games because we lost. It's irrelevant now, there are no post season adjustments to the win loss column for hypothetical situations.

No offense but i am so sick of the we should have been sc & candy w our 3rd string argument. 1st this isn't 30 years ago when the talent pool was smaller & top teams stockpiled players. The difference in talent between a top 20 TN or MI to a top 50 USCe is a hellava lot closer than people want to believe. 2nd this is the sec & outside of Bama, any team can be beat by another conference team. 3rd. What makes more sense, the team under performed in those games and injuries are no excuse or the team that beat va tech, FL and Nebraska after getting healthy are a more realistic view of what could have been. The injuries weren't an excuse they were the reality.
People can believe what they want but the middle of the D at all 3 levels was decimated. The Bowl game showed that barring the number of injuries we had, TN is probably 10-3 or 11-2 depending on the Bowl opponent.

This is a good post 👊

It's also obvious that he has a serious issue with in game coaching. Florida, Oklahoma, Georgia of last year. Yeah Georgia was a win, but we shouldn't have needed a frigging hail mary. We had the game in hand, but we obviously can't close one out. See Florida 2 years ago if you need reference material.

We wouldn't have needed the Hail Mary if Hurd hadn't decided to stroll the last 5 yds into the EZ in the 1st half, costing UT a TD. I blame Jancek for the UF loss. His D was outstanding for almost the entire game then he choked when the game was on the line.
