'18 TN DB Brendon Harris (UT Commit 5/19/17)

VQ video interview up with Jesse Simonton. I'll be surprised if he's not a Vol after watching it. Talked about how he was in Knoxville for spring ball and loves the way CCW coaches technique, he said you can tell CCW really knows what he's doing and the tempo is really good, said he UT in general is a good place to be, the fan base loves you, it's about family. He said Clemson and OSU are selling early PT and being National Championship contenders. Said UT's message is stay instate, Domin18, win with Tennessee people, vs UGA it's Georgia boys, UF it's Florida boys, this is our state we have to protect it, win with Tennessee boys!

You can tell when he said that last part he's giong to be a Vol, said it with enthusiasm. He wants to win at UT with other TN kids and beat our rivals. I'm excited about this kid, he could be a great one.

Not to mention OSU got blanked twice and who knows what Clemson will be without Watson

Next year Clemson will be similar to our 05 team. Top 5 defense but no offense. Once they get Trevor Lawrence they will go back to being a force. Especially if they get KJ Henry to go along with Xavier Thomas

Unfortunately, Clemson and tOSU are going to be just fine. We are in no position to point out other teams' faults. We have enough of our own. Don't you think their fans are setting back saying, "Who knows what they'll be without Dobbs?", or, "That defense is awful, and they lost their three best players off of an awful defense." And you know what, their points are more damning than our hopes that Urban and Dabo are just going to start falling off as coaches and recruiters.

That's not meant as a shot at you either, but I just see similar comments all over these threads as if our team sets atop the ivory tower of stability and structure. I won't blame a kid one bit for going to Bama, Clemson, tOSU, etc, until Butch proves he can compete with those teams on the field. Sad, but that's the reality of it.

Look at Clemson's schedule...

Sep 2 vs Kent St. Time: TBD
Sep 9 vs Auburn Time: TBD
Sep 16 @ Louisville Time: TBD
Sep 23 vs Boston Coll. Time: TBD
Sep 30 @ Virginia Tech Time: TBD
Oct 7 vs Wake Forest Time: TBD
Bye Week
Oct 13 @ Syracuse Time: TBD
Oct 28 vs Georgia Tech Time: TBD
Nov 4 @ N.C. State Time: TBD
Nov 11 vs Florida St. Time: TBD
Nov 18 vs Citadel Time: TBD
Nov 25 @ South Carolina Time: TBD

I don't understand how ACC fans can actually pretend like their conference is somehow elite. They laugh at the SECE. But I tell you what...I feel like the top 4 in the East would win at least 9 on that schedule without stretching.

I know that other fans (who even care about UT) are saying these things. And like many on VN they are ignoring the fact that only 1 of those 3 played all year. I think the D will be better this year. Also are you ignoring the fact that Clemson is losing most of their offensive production. Their D will be fine but their O has more questions than ours

But they recruit at an elite level, don't have much attrition and they play a weak schedule. Clemson is going to be at the top of their conference and in playoff contention for the foreseeable future. I wish it weren't the case but it is.

Yeah must be nice when your toughest opponent is FSU and the next toughest is GTech

Clemson plays a much easier schedule too, and are coming off a national championship. They may fall back to 10-2 or something this year, but they will be right back in the thick of things soon enough. We haven't even gotten past 8 regular season wins in 10 years.

I'm just saying those in glass houses...

As much as I hate it, Penn State and Michigan are on the way back up. They weren't when Urban took the Ohio State job. I can see him faking another heart attack now that he has to work a little for his wins.

As questionable as a coach Butch is, he'd win 10 games in the ACC easily.

He'd certainly have an easier time replacing Bama, Florida, Georgia, and LSU with FSU, Louisville, GA Tech, and VA Tech. Not sure Butch has shown me enough on the field to say 10 wins with Clemson's schedule is a slam dunk, but he'd have a much better shot.

Well he won 8 with Tennessee's schedule so I like his chances of picking up two more.

It was bad luck he didn't win 10. I definitely could see him dominating that ACC schedule.

Yeah, I get it that some people want to say no matter what we should've beaten SC and Vandy, but with the amount of injuries we had, and the amount of different starters and players playing out of their natural position we had, it's a miracle we didn't lose more. I think a fully healthy team last year wins 10.

I agree. I think if we hadn't had the injuries last year we beat SCar, Vandy, and TAMU. We would've had a great shot at Bama too.

Oh I agree. I'm just not willing to call it a slam dunk case. Really, since it's a hypothetical situation, it's really a yes/no answer. So, yes, I think Butch could win 10 games against that schedule.
