Grow up. Move on.

Called out a dick for being a dick. Obviously soft. That was a dick joke icymi. I don't think yer a bully though. Just that if this wasn't about getting attention you would've just said what you thought instead of baiting. Let me know when you "publish" that analysis. Can't wait.

I wouldn't mind to have a legitimate football discussion with people worthy of having that discussion. Unfortunately, you are acting like an insecure condescending clown who is desperately seeking internet cred.

As far as your pisspoor attempt at a 'gotcha' moment, how many of those times when Tennessee ran a 2 TE set did they field snaps from under center? I'm always amused when console kings think they 'know' the game.

Condescending clown? Lol you just called me a console king and I've made zero insults to you.

What does being under center have to do with anything? Are you saying your definition of "power football" is "a team that plays under center"?

Whatever the "definition" is, we sure haven't witnessed it here in the last 5 yrs.

I've not seen you post anything personal at anybody in particular..yet you have been called some pretty nasty stuff..interesting.

I honestly don't know how they're defining it, but our running game with Dobbs was impressive. And he sure wasn't easy to bring down. I remember him dragging FL defenders.

We also used power and counter a lot.

Nope. That alone doesn't constitute 'power football' but it is generally a component of it. But trying to twist one's words to have another 'gotcha' moment, tells me what your agenda is.

Here's some questions I would like to ask you. How far did you go in football? College offers? High School? Pop Warner? Did you even play? (Meaning physically in a game)

I can't twist your words because you haven't provided any. What is your definition of "power football"?

This tells me all I need to know. That was not a 'power' offense. That was Dobbs being a super athlete and masking the problems with Butch's mid major offense by improvising. Butch's offense used zone blocking. Definitely not a trait in a 'power offense'

We're done. Just exposed your nonsense. Back out for a couple of weeks. Maybe enough people will forget this exchange and you can try this little dog and pony show again.

Did you not read what I put below? We ran a ton of power and counter two years ago. Probably more so than zone.

But by your own definition Alabama is not a power offense. Because Alabama is a one back zone team

In my opinion Dobbs was our offense. I like a lot of folks consider power football as a 2 tight end, i formation, run north and south. Not lining up in shotgun with 1 rb 10 yds. behind the los.Jmo,everybody has 'em.

Why don't you just save everyone some time and give your definition

Your whole line of questions regarding this isn't conversational, it's confrontational.

"Power football" I don't have a definition for. The closest thing I'd have a definition for is Gap scheme teams. Which is the opposite of zone blocking. As in their main run plays are gap runs (power, trap, counter). Like an old school Joe Gibbs team.

But you really don't see that anymore. Georgia did it under Richt. Auburn does something similar out of the gun. So did we when we had Dobbs.

Regardless of whether we are running straight up man blocking or a gap scheme, it will involve run blockers that are “maulers.”

The two teams playing Monday Wisconsin, or other pro-style offenses need lineman that generally engage the defense and open holes by strength at the point of attack. It isn’t going to be based on misdirection in order to create the space without good blocking.

By the way, I recommend the book “Blood, Sweat, and Chalk” for a good analysis of various tactics in football.

Power imo is based on the lines of scrimmage. Inside out on offense where the original focuse is between the tackles being established then taking advantage on the outside. With the spread it seems there is more focus on the outside in getting guys in space 1 on 1.

The term "Power Football" is like the term "hard-core pornography." Difficult to define, but I know it when I see it.

One of my issues with the phrase "power football" is people are using it to define Alabama, while also saying you have to be under center and you can't be a zone team.

Bama has been a zone team since Saban arrived and has the last two years they are in the pistol or gun a lot more than they are under center.

Here's every play they ran in 2016. You can tell they're a zone team because you will almost never seen an offensive lineman pull.

So I find it odd that we hire a Bama coach and everyone says "we are going to be a power team now". Why? Alabama isn't.

Anyone want to guess how many times Bama went under center against auburn this season?

0 times. Alabama never went under center the entire game.

My issue is that many have these false notions about Bama. "They're a power team". Actually they mainly run zone. "They run from under center". Actually, some games they don't even go under center.

I will say though, they ran more power and counter in this game than I've ever seen them run and less zone

IMO people just see a big OL that gets a lot of push in the run game and call that "power football" without really understanding whether it's zone or gap. You can run successfully using either, and do it under center or not. There are appropriate situations for each.

Agreed. I also think "pro style" is spread at this point in football history. Just like how pro style used to mean single wing. Now it's another word for spread. Because that what pro football has become.
