'18 TN QB/WR Alontae Taylor (UT commit 6/18/16)

Sorry that was rhetorical. I do expect him to be there in 2 years (if there's no huge scandal) and then alontae's coach could go to that school
Gotchya. Worried that SC's offense is going to light it up this year and be enough to draw him to Columbia. Their receiving core is very deep and talented and Bentley is going to put up big numbers if their offensive line can be just mediocre

watch NC State beat carolina in the opener. They got everybody back.
NC state should win that game. I'm not saying carolina will be world beaters but I help cover the team for the school newspaper and their offense has a lot of talent and depth. The offensive line is a concern but if it's just ok this offense will be dangerous.

UT needs to recruit the coach as well as the player. Head coach has a history with CWM and might be angling for future job.

Hope Alontae knows what's happening and sticks with his own best interest and heart. He will have a better chance of success both in football and out of it at UT.

There is a reason that suddenly kids from that school took to a camp at USC. Can't ignore signs.

Recruiting the coach is one tactic and probably the best direct tactic for our football staff. At another level there's another strategy to address these individuals. We're in TN. If folks want to coach high school sports in this state, they should not be allowed to push kids toward decisions that directly have an adverse impact on the state or any state institutions.

Now before anyone goes nuts, I'm not saying you have to be a TN fan to coach HS sports in the state. There have been plenty of coaches who may have been Bama or UGA or Michigan or ND fans; who didn't push their kids there. Coaches should answer questions and provide sound advice, but they shouldn't be steering kids elsewhere to fit their own agenda or friendships. When they do that, their lack of integrity becomes apparent and there should be consequences that remedy that situation.

Now, that said, if they've got a 3-4 LB who has NFL potential in the 3-4, sure they've got a reason to advise that kid to look elsewhere because we run a 4-2-5 or 4-3. But that's not what's happening here. You've got someone who's check is paid by the same taxpayers who support UT and he's pushing Taylor because he's got personal ties to WM. Not sure why a person doing that should receive a paycheck from the state, via the local school board.

Keeping the enemies at bay is not just the responsibility of the coaches and staff. There are strategic pieces that the administrative, legislative and executive functions related to the state and university can play to keep the playing field tilted in the home state's favor. One of those is keeping self-serving snakes out of the chicken coop.

There might be reasons for concern as people close to him are pushing him elsewhere. I believe his coach might be pushing for South Carolina and his interest in them is not simply passing.

Butch will need to recruit him to the end as he was really tight with Azzanni.

My main question is why would he listen to his coach when his high school team is so bad?

I do not know why a person would put much into his h.s. coach's input regardless of record. To me the player/family can do it's own research and make their own decision. If a player is listening to a coach, it makes me think the coach is getting paid by that school and coach then promises to give some of that money to player.

The kid/family are probably just looking for someone they know who is familiar with the recruiting situation. Usually the coach is going to know more

Man Belmont is expensive

Yep...and he is engaged to a fellow graduate he met there. They have a titanic debt load between them...but that degree opens some pretty high paying doors. The dumb thing is he wants to continue in prosecution. He has interned with the Rutherford DA the last year. I told him he was crazy to go that route. I know prosecution makes nothing like defense. He has worked a few trials though, and his boss told him he is a natural trial lawyer.

He can get his trial experience paid for there, then go out on his own
