'18 TN RB Master Teague

Teague most not know that if he goes to UGA he will be behind :
Elijah Holyfield / JR
Brian Herrien / JR
D'andre Swift / Sophmore

That's a pretty deep backfield.

His other two top schools are UGA and Auburn right? Didn't Gus almost get fired last season before his win over LSU (which resulted in Miles getting fired)? And aren't the UGA fans and media restless with Kirby already? His recruiting isn't going so well right now either. Fact is, every SEC coach is one bad season away from being fired (except for the red teams coach).

Butch just had 9 wins back to back for the first time in a long time on the hill. It's his best coaching staff to date and he has a very good roster with recruiting going very well. If I were Teague I'd be more worried about the other two coaches in my top 3 before Butch Jones. JMO

But the FF tells me we suck

Can you tell us why it has seemed he just hasn't really held Tennessee in the highest regard?

Teague is buying the negative spin from rival coaching staffs. Sigh.

Butch should have won more.

There's about 5 games that if we could have pulled them off he would be considered one of the top coaches in the game.

So close to getting over that hump. Let's hope this is the year that he solidifies himself and gets it done.

If we would've just beat Vandy and South Carolina this year smh also in '15 OU ,Ark, and Florida .

The only really bad decision Butch has made to this point is not hiring a S&C Coach immediately after firing Lawson. In my opinion that cost us the East last year due to all the injuries. One can only imagine what an in shape McKenzie, and a healthy Tuttle, with Barnett could have looked like at the end of last year.

The same reasoning is why I am not so concerned with this year. I assume the O-line will be in shape at the beginning of the season, and the injury bug goes away, or is at least limited.

UGA will have 4 losses this year imo. Notre Dame , Tennessee, Florida, and Auburn . They might slip up on another game too .

Eh, staff wise you could argue he had a few guys he should have moved on from earlier than he did.

And there were a few in game/play calling decisions that arguably left 1-2 games on the field as well. Not going for two against UF in 2015 and calling a timeout to give them a shot to turn a FG into 7 points were both potential game changers.

I don't wanna go any further into mistakes he's made since we've already done it before as nauseum and I'd rather just look forward to seeing what the revamped staff can get out of the guys in 2017. But Butch has mostly himself to blame for the perception he and the program have been suffering from over the past 7 months or so.

Honestly, if he had just beat Vandy, going to the Sugar Bowl would have been enough to solidify a Tn back on the national scene. People wouldn't have cared about the record, still playing in the Sugar Bowl.

True but couldn't the same be said about many other coaches?

Maybe. But if you want to keep the hot seat talk away then you've got to win those. And the goal isn't to be "most other coaches." We want to be back at the top.

If he had won the games below we would be sitting pretty.

Vandy 16
OU 15
UF 15
UF 14
UGA 13

Yeah it would have been nice to have that one. But when you pile up the injuries like we did last year you're gonna drop a game you probably wouldn't normally.

The South Carolina game wasn't the back breaker. We still had a sugar bowl in front of us along with a 9 win regular season if we had just beat Vandy. That is the one that really hurts.

Also, to be fair to the kid, he can google top 5 hot seat coaches and will see CBJ name on most. Not hard to sell if you are an opposing coach. Reality? Probably not, he would have to go 6-6 or 7-5 but media knows Tn fans doesn't accept just being mediocre.

Admin doesn't care about what fans think just what they buy. They care about those who donate large amounts but only to a certain extent.

Most ADs have a certain amount of pride and want to build a legacy though. Not sure what we've got in Currie in regards to that, but it's a factor.
