'19 CA QB JT Daniels (Georgia commit)

There are at least four games Tennessee loses last season without JG. His flaws are obvious but they've been magnified by an inconsistent (but improving) supporting cast. Reality is that he could be the starter this season and I'm willing to see how his second year under Chaney has affected him before chalking up any automatic loses. I don't understand the mindset of rooting against any of the players.
@utvols88 come get your boy

Hell far it’s been 3 years they only get 4? and JG still contains the same issues he’s always had showing zero improvement...how long do you think he needs?...what are you accustom to? 5 year extension on taxes.

I'll give u JT is more talented but what makes u guys so sure he walks in and is able to pick up this offense? Pruitt has already shown how much he values being able to get in right play.
Besides JG going rouge in Tuscaloosa?
I hope he chooses to go to Knoxville!

I am most definitely not a grammar or spelling Nazi but I chuckle every time I read this. I've seen it on here a few times. Now if this is one of those recruiting forum approved alternate spellings then I'm just a moran.

Didn't we just win 8 games with JG last year? He didn't technically start all of those games, but he was the main QB no doubt in every game. If we don't drop those two easy wins at the beginning of the year, but those were by no means his fault (though he certainly has to shoulder some of the blame). No reason we can't win the 8 games we should win with him at QB.

But we did drop those two games. And inconsistent and just downright bad qb play was a big reason. He will lose you at least two other games where he just snatched defeat from the jaws of victory

Tee wins this battle and we have a legit shot at Atlanta this year not 3 years from now

You cannot assume the eight games we are favored in to be automatic wins. Other teams are out there trying to win against better opponents. Upsets happen every week.
Well yeah, I'm not saying it's a guarantee, but we clearly should win them. They're all teams we beat last year in the sec, and honestly most of them probably aren't improving a lot, except for possibly Kentucky, but we get them at home. The fact of the matter is we should win with JG at the helm. If someone beats him out, then so be it. They'll have earned it, but that doesn't mean he wasn't clearly our best option last year and might be again this year.

Or we lose the big 4 and at least one more with JG. We definitely need another Good Qb to transfer in or have Bailey or Maurer step up.
Maybe, maybe not. We'll have to see. Bailey is the only one I think that has a shot. Nothing i saw from Maurer gave me any hope in particular.

It's hard for me to blame him for either of those games last year.

The offensive line was flat out terrible against Georgia state. Only allowed 3.0 years per rush, and 4 sacks and I'm fairly sure the interception he through was also because he got hit as he threw. That's unacceptable and had nothing to do with him. The defense also gave up way too many points.

BYU literally wasn't his fault at all. He did what Chaney called, he was efficient when he was called to pass. They had like 17 seconds to go the entire length of the field, and without the worst blown coverage of all time, we win that game. He doesn't play CB as well as QB.

People will always find a way to blame him for everything. There was plenty of blame to go around those first two games, and he certainly is at least partially responsible for it, but there was way more problems than just him. He showed he was clearly our best option last year. Might change this year, who knows. Guess we'll find out

I think the frustration and doubt stems from the fact that in year 5 it should a no-brainer that he should be our best option and leader of the team or have moved on to the professional level. That’s clearly not the case. I don’t need any stats or otherwise to tell me what I see the majority of the time when I watch him play. We need to see him take command of the offense and look like he knows what the hell he is doing on a consistent basis. JG’s career in a nutshell last year In 1 drive vs. Florida: made probably his best throw ever on an out route for a first and then also had 2 of his worst. The one with DWA and the nice hitch route by the UF corner.

Enough JG talk. He has been incompetent to mediocre at his best. He's had his 4 years.

This is the JT thread. He's very talented and can handle Chaney's system, probably better than JG handled it. Bring him in and they can all compete for the job. The only way we are going to know is if they stack the QB room with talented QB's the compete for the job. Best man wins even if it is JG. Next best gets to be the next man up in case of injury or failure.

It's on CJP to make the right choice, not us. He gets the big paycheck and the glory if he makes the right choice. If he don't he takes the abuse for messing it up. Time to man up at QB and HC. This team is too experienced and talented to be just an after thought in the SEC race.

I like it finally a poster willing to call out Pruitt for this entire situation.

Seems pretty simple to me.

1) trust Pruitt to make the call and support whomever is under center even it it’s JG

Or

2) like this post says come flat out and challenge the manhood and decision making of our HC. If he makes the wrong call it’s on him.

All he/she did was state the obvious. Nothing earth-shattering, there. Of course its Pruitt's decision and responsibility. Who has stated otherwise? That entire post goes without saying other than to emphasize the point.

Are you seriously confused over what he inherited? He’s added some pieces and the performance has improved, but this potential class that has yet to sign, would be the first mass talent infusion to the roster. He’s built something that could actually mess up...two years ago they were what they were. I’m a now rather than later type also, but I haven’t become irrational in the process.

Not really.

As I see it there are a number of very very vocal anti JG guys that also are very very vocal supporters of CJP. Pruitt has had plenty of time to replace JG and IF he’s a bad and it’s as obvious to everyone he’s that bad as these posters come here day after day and tell us then surely A coach worth his salt sees it as well. Imo you can’t come here day after day talking About how obvious it is JG can’t play QB in the league and yet support CJP fully.
