Just because Butch hired you doesn’t make you one. Deboard was a pretty good OC but not a good QB coach. Dobbs is still a fundamental mess.

Yeah, but to be fair, Dobbs trained with QB guru George Whitfield as well. I thought both Whitfield and Debord improved Dobbs to a degree, but he is just never going to be a great passing QB.

You guys want to know why there are so many busts in qb rankings...rarely do they watch games. They use highlites and camp rankings.

Watching Harrison Bailey and others from last season and then comparing this cat to them against a team that had 5 starters out of the back 7 and still didn't get past midfield. Not impressed from what i saw.

You should let the recruiting services know you have figured out the key to not having so many busts at QB.

I’m sad you’ve sat on this info for so long.

But you said yer analysis was from watching a spring game. I wouldn't consider that a real game. Probably get more out of watching a practice imo.

Didn’t he (Dobbs) also train with QB coach Quincy Avery?

Yes, I believe he did. I actually thought Debord did a solid job with Dobbs. His accuracy improved from about 59.5% his he season to about 63.5%. And that wasn't in short throws. Josh threw a lot more vertical throws his sr season than any other season, and his accuracy improved greatly on the deep balls. And I credit Debord for Dobbs' improvement in that area.

Why do you have to bash JG to praise someone else? This kid looks likes a good prospect. JG was great in these situations too.

I actually did not bash JG. Look back I said he did well in the spring game. I also said he needed to work on his timing and reads.

JG has progressed slow. JG has worked with plenty of Quarterback Coaches over the past 3 summers outside of Tennessee and is still behind in those areas. (Anyone who disagrees with this is just looking through a fogged lense)

I was just making a reference everyone could relate to.

If I was going to Bash JG I would be more harsh.

As for Calzada everyone is right he can be coached. I guess that's what our guys will have to assess is he coacheable.

Edit: Also K-town I'm not against you bro I know you like JG, I don't care which QB starts for us as long as he helps us win games. Lol... Heck they could pull a non scholarship off the bench for all I care.

You're missing what he's doing.
He's trying to pretend that you saying JG still needed to progress in 1 area is the same as him running from thread to thread belittling all the competition and calling them clipboard holders etc.,

Shockingly, in his head, it's the same thing. 😌

“Can’t praise player A without ‘belittling” playERS B, C, D and E” in full effect. :)

Calzada may be the prettiest girl at the prom who has all the suitors swooning, but I would bet that multi-million dollar contracted HC's at major programs really don't care all that much about pretty when their jobs are on the line when choosing QB's to recruit.

We have a real QB coach now. We haven't had a real one since Chaney despite posts to the contrary. So JG gets a pass for his past. However, there are no more excuses for him. He is very talented and it is now time to perform as he should. The part to improve is in his head. He has the mechanics and he proved he has heart. He needs to think faster on the field, read D's better, and become a leader the guys will go to war with in the trenches.
