'19 GA QB Zach Calzada (In transfer portal)

Yes he was.... He was specifically hired as an Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks coach.... You've made two false statements already..... Now if you are saying he just wasn't because technically he grew up coaching offensive lineman, then I agree with you.

I do agree however, that he will be getting coached this year by a real quarterback coach.

I also think JG did well this spring but still needs to work on speed of his release and decision making.

First with the Utah State RB coach comment and now this about Debord not being a quarterback coach.
Debord was never a QB coach here.

Day 2 update from Elite 11 finals...

No. 11- Zach Calzada, Buford (Ga.) Lanier - Calzada wasn't as accurate as he was on Friday when he was one of our top three performers. But we still really like the way he throws the football. The ball just comes out of his hand differently. He has a natural, quick release and can make every throw on the field with ease.

Tennessee hires Mike DeBord as offensive coordinator

Hmmm shocking that this article says differently.

Again, apparently I make stuff up though.... Even though I almost always back up my statements. Like now.
Nick Sheridan worked with the QBs. It was talked about ceaselessly on here. I don’t care what that article says. Debord was never a qb coach here. And you can shove that smarmy attitude right back up your ass where it came from.

So hostile, quite funny. Here you go. Maybe this will fuel your fire as well.

Case closed...

Everyone wishes but seriously doubts. Who cares if the OC two years ago coached QBs or not? Useless "who is right" arguement no one gives a rat's rear about. Now if we could just decide if/why Woodi should camp here or not...

I agree with this, and all this over me making one example of how JG has progressed slowly in his 3 years on the team.

Also while saying I would assume that the coaches would figure out if "Calzada" is coachable or not.

I also agreed on the fronts that Debord and other coaches didn't develop our QBs, the one area I disagreed with people is when they stated those said coaches were never QB coaches for Tennessee or period which is false.

Also, Debord was a QB coach once upon a time in the 1980s for sake of my arguement.

Anyways keep on VOLin on!

Yep. 40 years ago I was 40 years old and could drive a golf ball over 300 yards. Now I can barely drive it 200 yards. That was then and now is now. Apples are apples and oranges are oranges. Once upon a time is the way all fairy tales start. For the sake of argument, I think you lost this one.

I think the main point was the coaches butch hired to coach QBs were not really considered QB coaches. Like you said, debord coached QBs in the 80s and wasn't canales coaching RBS at UTEP when we hired him as QB coach? The point was jg never had good position coaching until this spring. And that the things you didn't like about Calzada were things a good qb coach could teach him to do better. You guys decided to argue semantics, which is always fun, but wasn't very productive.

Now see Sleegro, in with a very well written statement and analysis. Thank you sir for this post. I thought when we hired Canales he had just got off a 5 year stint of being an offensive coordinator and QB coach. (North Texas) I could be wrong.

If it'll make everyone happy I will concede to whatever. However, my point was that nothing I said was discreditable. Everything I said was factual and backed up by facts.

You can't have people mess with your credibility. However, people are entitled to their own opinions and that is what makes this message board great.

I think most of us were more accepting of the coaches judgement at the time, I mean who in his right mind would not hire a real QB coach..the most important position on the field in the best conference in CFB?...Butch Jones that's who.
