Never was impressed with Bajakians playcalling. DeBord was better. Bajakian is a QB coach.
Sounds like Kaepernick...Vince Young...Mark Sanchez. Every one of their QB coaches inept?
I would have liked to have seen him with a full yr with dobbs. Offense was pretty explosive and hitting its stride that last half of that season then Jake left. He really seemed to do well with multiple plays out of that Pearson jet sweep
Kaepernick got worse when Harbaugh left. Looked pretty good with good coaching though. Vince had Jeff Fisher who almost ruined the careers of the 2 QBs in the NFC championship game last year too. They looked way better after Fisher. I bet Vince would've had a much different career with a different coach. Never thought Sanchez was very good and didn't have to be on those jets teams, but no I wouldn't say he received good coaching there.
Kaps regression had started well before Harbaugh left and was a major reason for it. Norman Chow had/has a stellar rep developing QBs...another one you have to put on the QB and Sanchez led Jets teams to playoff wins...including against Peyton. He regressed. QBs have to keep reinventing because opposing DCs are constantly adjusting and monitoring their tendencies. Thats why the Bradys, Mannings and Rodgers stay great...regardless of their QB coach.

And winston started better than all 3 of those guys. I'm just not sold on coach jake. But I don't really agree with all those. Kap maybe. Chow could not overcome Jeff Fisher and had never really coached a Vince young type QB. Bad fit. Sanchez won games like dilfer won games. With defense. He was never very good. Maybe with better coaching he would have improved. I agree some of it is on the players too, but rex and Fisher were objectively bad for QBs. And kap probably never even starts a game without Harbaugh. To be fair I've never been super happy with the winston pick but he did have a pretty productive first year and most of my reservations were due to off field garbage.

I started this by stating that I wasnt impressed with Bajakian as a playcaller. That being said, Im not a champion of his prowess as a QB coach...but Im open minded. Theres a reason great QBs arent identified by their QB coach...its on themselves. A QB coach is a sounding board...practically a caddy. Put Bajakian with Jared Goff and be amazed at the results! hmy:
What do Brady, Manning and Rodgers all have in common (no racism please) that Kap, Young and Sanchez did not? Nothing to do with physical skill set - it's their brains. The ability to analyze and process information very quickly that enables them to make good decisions.
Name a QB coach with a mediocre talent that has.
You may be right. Maybe I'm too hard on coach jake but I haven't seen any evidence that he is a good qb coach which is what you originally said that started this discussion. It's just semantics at this point which will probably annoy other posters so I'll stop arguing. I just haven't seen evidence that he is good. And maybe winston isn't evidence he's bad. But I don't think it shows he's good.

I don't think working with guys a few days during the summer is going to help anybody that much..it didn't do much for Dobbs. They need a real QB coach that has eyes and hands on the whole year. Great QB coaches like Cutcliff make meh players good, and good players great, and great players into legends.
