19 students, 3 adults dead in Texas elementary shooting.

My solution is one of two or both.
- Hire ex military personnel to replace SROs. And/or let the teachers and staff decide for themselves if they would like to carry. Their lives should not be up to the government to gamble with.

Yeah, let's arm dudes potentially with PTSD and put them in our schools to protect our children.

Gotta keep up with the entirety of what I said. I said in earlier posts that ex military applicants would undergo extensive psychological exams as a part of the hiring process

Sickening! Multiple cops armed with AR15s and body armor vs ONE shooter with an AR15 and body armor. Piss poor excuses for cops

At what point do we accept the notion that a cop isn't a hero unless he proves otherwise? Just dudes collecting paychecks until they do something brave and selfless.

What’s funny is how many people want to criticize anyone that suggests arming teachers and/or ex military personnel. But the one thing that hasn’t been tried is arming teachers and ex military personnel. Meanwhile schools are being shot up at an alarming rate

Like when Bo Bergdahl was admitted into the army? IDK, man. Not sure I trust public schools to restrict the hiring process to vets. Can they be that selective if it's only vets? Not sure the math works on that.

I disagree. I think every cop is a hero until he/she given the opportunity to either prove worthy of that badge or below it. Most cops don’t NOT act in a situation like that. Most would die trying to save those kids

It could be anyone. Teachers, cops, ex military, special forces retirees or any infantry or combat experience. Battle tested doesn’t always mean PTSD or homeless drug addicts/alcoholics.

They are seldom used in murders mass or otherwise.

You are dead wrong. It has been the most commonly used firearm in spree shootings. You sure do talk out of your butt a lot.

I was in law enforcement for several years and I’ve never heard or seen such a cowardly act that what those cops demonstrated. Each situation is unique but often involve a gunman. However rarely does it end in someone’s death. That doesn’t mean the cops finger was never on the trigger and ready to die if necessary. So I respectfully disagree with both you and Hogg. A cop is a hero until given the opportunity to prove otherwise. Not everyone is cut out for such a job

This might interest you. @kiddiedoc posted it earlier.
  • The FBI’s Uniform Crime Reports prove that the overwhelming majority of gun-related homicides are perpetrated with handguns, with rifles of any kind accounting for less than 3 percent of gun-related homicides. In 2013, 5,782 murders were committed by killers who used a handgun, compared to 285 committed by killers who used a rifle. The same holds true for 2012 (6,404 to 298); 2011 (6,251 to 332); 2010 (6,115 to 367); and 2009 (6,501 to 351).
  • More people are stabbed to death every year than are murdered with rifles.
  • A person is more likely to be bludgeoned to death with a blunt object or beaten to death with hands and feet than to be murdered with a rifle.

For each article you find saying AR15s are the problem, I can find 10 that oppose it. It all depends on the writers. But like it or not, the truth is AR15s are used in less than 2% of gun related deaths. Those stats are from the FBI

I specifically said "spree shootings" ... so, I obviously wasn't talking about all "gun-related homicides."
What is it that scares you guys so much about AR15s? Because they look scary? Thats gotta be it because one trigger pull = one round. Hence the term SEMI automatic. I can shoot a handgun just as fast and reload it faster. Is my handgun now an assault weapon?
