The time line AV posted makes this a huge failure by the police. I suspect it may change in the coming days, but TX police screwed the pooch.
I dont understand the teacher leaving the door open though, as soon as they saw the guy with the gun they should've gone on lockdown and shut and locked all the doors and got the kids inside. It seems they had several minutes to do so.
the teacher leaving the door cracked open…do not understand.
Lot of criticism on here about the cops and I didn’t buy it. Because it just didn’t compute to me. I see it now but it still doesn’t compute to me. Do not understand.
It is. You see, if you haven’t figured this out yet, I don’t hide. If I want a “Waffle House brawl” I’ll say I want a Waffle House brawl. Im 44 dude. I’ve grown up. But I’m no push over either. How I am here is exactly how I am in real life on the same subjects. But I suspect you can have a much more mature conversation in face to face encounters when there is nothing but air and opportunity between us. I truly believe you don’t talk to people that way in real life. So if you’re ever in central Florida, let’s get a coffee.
The more I read, the more mad I get. So much went wrong. Horribly wrong. By so many parties
Dark hypothetical following here -It is incomprehensible.
So let’s say all the normal cops just shtt the bed and were too scared to enter. Put them aside now.
The BORTAC guys arrived at 12:15 and breached at 12:50. What? At some point some guys took fire and went in and killed the guy. So they were scared for 35 minutes then worked up the courage to go in after 35 minutes? I don’t buy that. The guys that finally entered had the courage to do it, why the HUGE delay by the guys that did do it?
I would like to see video from the hall way to see the police and their actions. Knowing they had a chance save at least some of these kids and didn't.the teacher leaving the door cracked open…do not understand.

I was talking about this tonight over dinner. My wife is worried that the CO on premises is either going to commit suicide or have a freak accident. He's the one who kept them from going in, according to what she'd read. And he's going to (rightfully) catch hell for it for the rest of his life and long after.
As more information comes out, I'm sure we'll all be even more pissed at the ineptitude that took place surrounding the incident.
Every cop that was there and did nothing needs to be fired without pension and black listed from the profession. Who ever gave the order needs to be charged with negligence. Cowards. All of em. I don't know how those officers can sleep at night. Worthless scum.
I'll drive down from Jax just to be in the splash zoneI’m in Central Florida and will gladly...no pun intended...volunteer to video capture the Waffle House discussion between @1vol8 and @DinkinFlicka.
I'm sure I'll get hate for this but probably. I understand as a parent they want to get to their kids and I'm positive if I'm ever in that situation I would be upset too, but that still isn't justification for running into an active scene ans mudding the waters as well as possibly taking a life of someone just doing what they're toldDark hypothetical following here -
A mother of children inside the school shows up on scene ready to run through walls.
She is stopped from entering the school by Law Enforcement.
She shoots the cop, enters the school and retrieves her children.
Once her children are safe she lays down her weapon and surrenders.
Anybody here vote to convict?

But that also makes me question the shooters mindset. Why didn't he just get rid of everyone at the jump? Was he afraid of the police coming in? Was he afraid of running out of ammo? Were there negotiations? The more I read the less sense any of this makes.
